Hi everyone, I too am a newby who stumbled over this site by accident but it could be the life line I need. I'm using patches but started on 15mg (stage 2) as the last time I tried to quit I started on the 25mg (stage 1) they made me feel really sick. It seems harder this time and although I'm not ready to rip heads off I do feel very edgy. Was at work all day so that was good distraction but the evenings are the worse. I have a 4yr old DD who can be trying at the best of times so I'm really having to keep my inner grouch in check, though I am screaming inside. I don't think about cigs all the time but when I do I have little fantasies that one cig would make me feel euphoric!! WT.....? My logic knows this is proper pants but the demons in my head are very convincing. I am a bit 'Dawn French' esq (pre weight loss, maybe a little taller) and just want to eat anything that doesn't have a pulse but know I'll be the star of some 'eating disorder/had to be removed from house by a crane' kinda t.v show if I don't nip this in the bud soon!!

Any tips beyond wiring my chops up?

NB I do eat healthy stuff too, I'm not a complete potato head!

hey congratulations on day 2!!! I'm a newbie too, quit yesterday on 25mg patches... Seems to be going too well so far, don't feel as agitated etc as I usually do when going off fags cold turkey... Still getting pretty strong cravings though, and been thinking about smoking pretty much all day (hence joining this message board so I can read and talk about them all night!!) Right now just keep getting this weird restless feeling like theres something I need to do!! I guess at this stage if your feeling like snacking then maybe just go for it!! or if your worried about weight and stuff maybe try some grapes or boiled sweets that you can suck?? Anyway, hope tomorrows better for you, best of luck!

Hi jeanie, ive cold turkey'd till day 5 and wouldn't worry about the eating the first week and concentrate on not smoking, ive eaten that much in the last 5 days if someone stuck a pin in me id fly around the sky like a deflating ballon :)

gotta keep going as it can get hard at times, just one day at a time :) good luck.

Thanks to both for your replies, they are very much appreciated.

So far tonight I've only had a large bowl of cereal, 2x packs of french fries and loadsa tea so I s'pose it could be worse lol :o

I think you're right about concentrating on one thing at a time, so will ignore my piggy sessions and pat myself on the back for not having a scabby fag!!

I am a bit worried that one day someone might stick a skewer up me bum and put me on a spit tho.........

Hi and welcome :) its easier just to focus on the quit for now try to keep in mind that you have to to concentrate on the now aswell and keeping mind and hands busy when your having a crave will make it will pass and they do get weaker reading the posts on here and posting will keep you busy sipping water also helps distract the mind when your craving and staying as postive as you can be will also help

Onwards and upwards is the way to go

Well done on your quit and welcome to the forums

This time next year we will all be on the biggest loser :D I dunno why but I have the part of Little Britain in my mind where Matt Lucas plays the part of the woman running fat fighters
