So, day 11.

So,

Havent really posted much thus far on here, but I've got to day 11 with cold turkey, no patches, no gum. I've tried many times to stop smoking over the years, having tried all the NRT stuff, I decided that cold turkey would be best for me.

And so far, I'm on day 11. The first 3 days were a nightmare, I've never felt so uneasy just sat there.....that initial hole in your life, the gap of time I had to fill, all those extra minutes I now had to fill.

So, day 11, yesterday I had the first craving I think I've had in days, it took me aback a little as I wasnt expecting it.

Do these cravings stay with us for the rest of time then? ie, will I be sat here in 2 years times still thinking about having a cig. I think I miss smoking :( (or is that just the habit and addiction talking?)

One test I have yet to pass is "going the pub" - this will be very hard for me, all my friends smoke and so I will be outside with them if I go the pub, plus add drink into the mix and it gets hard to not want a cig (everyone knows cigs and beer go so well together lol).

Anyhow, I hope I can pass the pub test at the weekend because I've been doing really well and so dont want to have to start again.

hi and welcome to the forum :)

and WELL DONE on going 11 days without smoking you should be so proud of yourself :D:D

the bad news is you will get cravings for quite a while to come but the good news is they will get weaker and the longer the time you manage not to give into them the time between each one will be longer

obviously at the time your having one it wilbe scary as you think why am i getting a craving ive not had a ciggy for how ever long but and this is a big but the nicorette demon that is inside you is always going to be there and will pop up at varies different stages in your life sometimes when your stressed and upset and other times when you personally think im smoke free now it will try its best to tempt you to start smoking again

but you can beat him as he does get weaker so everytime you get a craving keep your hands and mind busy and remember your reasons for quitting also think about all that money you are saving and treat yourself

also come on here and post there is always someone around

well done again

regards

Carol

well done!!

well done!!

you've done sooo well, think how proud you will be waking up the day after you go to the pub knowing you didn't give in! that will be a good feeling...

I've done 9 days so far...I'm feeling positive so far but havent had a night out with smokers yet... i think it will be a good challenge!

once you overcome the most tempting times to smoke you can get through anything without giving in to it!!

good luck :--)
