First day of quitting and I feel quite sad, even depressed. The thought of NEVER having another fag even makes me feel a bit panicky. Keep thinking of occasions, say a Birthday, holiday etc and thinking how can it be as much fun WITHOUT a cigarette!
All excuses NOT to stop I know, and hopefully these silly thoughts will fade.
Day 1 - I am finding it VERY difficult so far, but have had 3 cups of coffee without cigarettes. Would usually have had at least 5 or 6 cigarettes by now. Feel a bit light headed but that might be hunger!!
It's going to be a long road !!!

Everything you describe is completely normal. I was so lightheaded I ended up giving up on the day and going to bed!
Sadness/depression is also really common. You're saying goodbye to something that has been with you a long time. I know you know this but you can actually have fun without a cig. More fun actually as you don't go through the worrying about how you smell to non-smokers, you don't have to go and freeze to death in the rain and you have more money to have more fun with! Click on the bottom of the 2 links below my signature, and read about your 'friend' the cigarette!
The road is nowhere near as long as you think. If you can get through today tomorrow will be easier! I promise you!

Morning Juliee
Firstly deep breath, as divingdale (she's a girl really) says what you are feeling is perfectly normal.
This is the habit part of quitting, at this stage try not to think too far ahead, just concentrate on "this moment". Try not to drink so much coffee, it has more impact on you than when you were smoking, like peas and carrots coffee and nicotine go together (so do alchol and nicotine, also to be avioded until you have a firm grip on your quit). Try to drink some fruit juice and water and do anything to keep your mind occupied. Read the links in peoples signatures and learn more and more about quitting.
Your doing good, slowly and surely. One step at a time.
