I reallly want to do this..

So, tomorrow will be my day 1. I have tried and failed to quit more times than I can count. There always seems to be something that I use as an excuse to start smoking again and recently there have been so many stresses that I never seem to last more than a couple of days without caving in. But I believe I can do this, and I really really want to so am going to try my very very best.

I have spent most of my day today reading through posts on here (oops, was meant to be working!) and I am so touched by how supportive and helpful everyone is. I hope, with your help, I can finally kick this habit that has had me in its clutches for 15 years.

I don't want to be out of breath running up the stairs anymore

I want to feel in control

I don't want to keep spraying myself with perfume and stuffing myself with mints to hide this filthy habit

I want to be able to relax without relying on cigarettes

I don't want to spend my money on something so destructive and pointless

I want to be proud of myself when I succeed at quitting.

Bring it on!

Hi Pickle

Welcome to the forum! (I spend a lot of my day on here instead ot working too - but don't tell my boss... me!)

Best of luck tomorrow, do log on and if you need to rant, rave, scream for help or simply tell us you've found it OK!

What are you doing, CT, Champix, NRT?

Do read the links at the bottom of people signature blocks, they are really helpful and keep you going!

See you tomorrow!

Patches and inhalator for me; the most successful quit I have had in recent years lasted 2 months and using both seems to work for me so will try that again. Have never used a forum for support though so hopefully that will help too!

I like your reasons, keep those reasons for stopping in your mind at all times, don't get into a fight with your self, keep the goal clear in sight and don't ever under estimate your enemy because if you turn your back you will lose the war. You will be fine as long as you want it bad enough.

I did patches and gum for the first few days and then gum. I was lucky (like you) and found this forum really early on, I've never been on one before and I have found it massively helpful.

Some of the stories are inspirational, others make you go NONONONO I'm not going to do that!

I find it's fantastic knowing there are people out there experiencing (or have experienced) exactly what I am.

It can also be really really funny and some of the people on here are both wise and amusing. Others, like me ramble!

Hi Pickle,

You have a GREAT attitude for quitting. :) You will find, on this Forum,

masses of help and support. When l quit, over 3 yrs ago now, l found the help which l received on here, equally as helpful, as the Champix. :D If you feel a craving coming on, try to sneak on here, and someone will talk you out of it LOL. ;)

Good luck with your quit.

There is no good time to quit. There is no bad time to quit. There is just time.

Get the reasons for quitting burnt into 6 feet high letters of fire in your head, and then recall them every time you crave.

Am looking forward to your day 2 post:)

Heya!

Congrats on being fed up of all of those horrible habits that acompany smoking (the planning, mints, the stressing etc...) and welcome to the forum :)

Kepp those reasons in mind in the first few hard days and then as things progress then post about everything (or write it down somewhere!) because you're going to feel amazing at times but really down some others... and it helps to have a reminder of how good it is to be a non-smoker :)

Eitherway, you got us and (from what I can see) this forum has made the difference for a lot of serial quitters to help them stay quit.

Hi Pickle,

Welcome to the forum! You'll find more help and support here than you can shake a stick at!

Once you're passed the first few days you'll begin to feel amazing - there's no feeling quite like it :D

Best of luck with your quit.
