Noooo-ho-hooooooooooooooooo!!!!

Don't you dare.

If you do, I will too. And how guilty would THAT make you feel?

Seriously, you'll get past this. It's just a brain fart. It won't last. Don't ruin a fantastic quit.

Chocolate. Now.

No you don't. You think you do right now but you really really really don't want to. It would taste so bad, make you so giddy you will fall on your face and probaly break your nose and then you will be sick. :o <- thats you looking sick

It's an acceptable time to go have a bath and then go to bed. You will hate yourself if you give in now. You have come so far and are one of my inspirational people so you can't give in :)

Its just another crave, you have beaten them before you can beat this one

Right Claire,

Firstly, good for posting before you do.

Secondly, don't you dare. Learn from me, one leads to two etc etc & all the hard work has to be done again. At this time of night, take yourself off for a bath, read a book, go to bed, fight another day. Tomorrow you will get up & think to yourself, ok I was close to caving yesterday but I didn't so I CAN fight another day. If you don't you will be sat here like me, stinking of fags, wishing you hadn't caved in and having to do IT ALL AGAIN.

Hi Claire

Firstly you do care cos that's why you posted :)

These craves can be nasty and just sneak up when you're least expecting them but it'll pass - you know it will cos you've made it through them before!

It was a few months ago that I was sat on my back step 'smoking a pencil' I looked a prat and have probably got lead poisoning but hey it stop me from having a fag :D

Six months is a strong quit Claire and trust me it does get easier :)

Awww please don't. You longer smoke-free bods keep the rest of us going.

OK if guilt doesn't work and you don't want a bath or to go to bed... EAT. Cake, chocolate, biscuits, curry anything.

Howl, throw things, go back and read your posts to those in just the same place.

Believe in yourself. You done amazingly well. Stick with it.

In the early days its all exciting and new and its easier to feel good about abstaining. As time goes on nostalgic thought of how you "enjoyed" smoking and how it "helped" you are what you have to battle with. You need to recognising that these are just associations with situations and emotions, and understand the fact that you just used to deal with your cravings before getting on with the task at hand. I.e. it wasn't the smoking that helped or made you feel better about a situation it was the need for nicotine that made it harder.

Toughing it out is the only way to do it, you have achieved so much getting to where you are, focus on that and how rubbish you would feel if you just chucked it away. Eventually you will rarely think of smoking and the occasional feelings of want will become fewer and fewer and become nothing stronger than a passing fancy.

The point you are at is quite normal, don't let it become something more than it is which is a phase. Just move through it and get on with learning to live as a non smoker. Practice makes perfect.

Claire, why? why now, 6+ months in? what's going on in your life now??

Remember how quitting really sucked. I mean really and truly SUCKED big time. You've done it; you've worked thru all that BS, the mood swings, the eating all in sight... You've ridden tougher waves of want than this Claire. You CAN overcome; you WILL get thru this.

You need anything, you know we are here.

Jen

Please tell us you are ok

Sitting waiting. Tapping foot. Hoping you worked through it. Very occasionally a big thought to smoke hits. It knocks you off your feet a bit but its just the same as any other. Kick it in the backside and next time its not as difficult to do the same. Eventually it becomes easy and you'll ignore them. Shall check for updates. Fi x x

Morning all!

Hahahahahaha....stupid Nicodemon thinks he can get ME!?

NOT A CHANCE!

Still smoke free!

I think that this crave hit for several reasons:

1-as one of the long time quitters mentioned, the novelty wore off. Yes, i am now a non-smoker..but i am still me! Nothing had changed, i am still the same person.

2-i have been going through a few personal problems...and its always harder to keep on track when you are distracted

3-I had been drinking. That says it all really. I always know i get cravings when i have been drinking. Lesson learnt- no drinking for me for a while!!

Thank you all for your help, i was really happy to log on and see so much support- thank you all!

Goon on you, Claire ;)

The 8/9 month period bought testing times for me, too. I'd felt in control, relaxed and then similar to you you, craves and wants hit. I do see them as separate feelings to deal with.

You stayed strong, well done.

Thanks for all the support guys- means a lot!

The thing is- i am always wary of posting if i have a cravings, as i am worried about how this will effect the newbies. I worry that they look at me having done almost 7 months and think that its still hard at this stage. So the fact that you all supported me is great!

For the newbies- NO, its not without its troubles (as you can tell from my post!), but its a different struggle now.

Yes, i still get the occasional craving (obviously) but its NOTHING near as bad as the first few weeks.

and i am now better practiced at saying no to the nicodemon...he hasnt won yet, and i refuse to let him!

Hi Clare

Seeing you longer quit guys and gals having issues actually helps me. I'm at that stage where, because I'm having a couple of good days, it all seems quite easy.

Therein I suspect lies complacency and the rocky road to ruin.

So hearing others having moments keeps me on my toes and makes me a smug-free zone.

So thank you for sharing, and really well done on being so strong.

The forum is here for all Claire, regardless of how far along you are. People loose their quits after years, through sheer stupidity, more often than not cos they just want to see if they're still addicted. When I'm about I'll reply.

Onwards and upwards

HI Claire,

Having just, out of interest, read my first posts on here, l think what happens is, after a time one's guard is lowered, and we become a bit complacent - thus allowing Evil Nic to creep up on us LOL :(We must be aware of THE EVIL ONE, at all times :eek::eek:
