bored

Hello,

I was just looking at your post

just remember if your bored you'd be bored if you were smoking too. Smoking doesn't make you more interesting. maybe go and have a drink and celebrate the fact that your not smoking? Don't be afraid to go and have a drink incase you want to smoke, try and flip the thought on its head and think 'isn't it great that i'm not doing that anymore?'

Hope this helps

Good luck!;)

I know that feeling.

You feel like as a non smoker you can no longer be the free spirited, wild and groovy person you were.

Like you just can't have as much fun any more, huh?

I understand this. Totally. In my case I clung to cigarettes as the 'last vestige of my crazy youth'. This is what I did, I thought, when I was young free and single and rebellious. If I let this go I am succumbing totally to being middle aged and boring.

The thing we BOTH have to realise is that THIS IS A LOAD OF HUGE DANGLY B*LL*X.

Smoking really, honestly, does not make either of us more fun people. It makes us broke and gives us a first class ticket on the fast lane to cancer. Does it make me young and rebellious? No, it makes me a stupid, wheezing, middle aged smoker. Does it mean you are no longer permitted to have insane nights out? NO!!! You can have fun and be fun without inhaling poison. Am I middle aged and boring now I'm not smoking? NO! Well, yes. I'm middle aged. But I'm bloody well not boring.

In short, it's all about the mindset. Yet again. We must both retrain our brains.

Gooooooooo Coralie! xxx

Try going out and having a good time. If you then get the urge to have a crafty smoke, just think how if you don't give in to the urge, you won't have to go and stand outside in the dark and the cold. By not smoking, you can stay nice and warm inside and keep that lovely drink right beside you, where it belongs lol.

Thanks for your posts guys.

I think I feel that being a non smoker has changed me into this boring person, but I think I need to realise I can still do all the things I did before but not smoke.

I work in a pub on top of my 9-5, had 2 glasses of vino after work tonight and do feel like a smoke but I feel good.

I think this is to do with me saving to go travelling (I am going to Oz on 9 May for a year!) as well as the quit, as my lifestyle has changed quite a lot (I used to go out a lot but haven't for weeks!)...but I'm going out with two ex smokers on Sat night for some drinks so I'm looking forward to that.

Thanks again for the support x
