First of I'll introduce myself, I'm Danny and pretty much a forum lurk just reading other people posts and seeing the successes (Some of them 3years+!) and I long to be one of them! At Midnight tonight, I've made the decision to smoke that last evil rolly, and I'm more prepared than ever, I'm so excited and exhilarated by the thought of being a non smoker, no addiction hanging over my shoulder 24/7. I can feel it deep down inside this isn't going to be one of them half-arsed attempts of quitting like I've done in the past this has taken 2-3 weeks planning, now it's less than an hour. I just thought I'd join the bandwagon and post Wish me the best of luck, I'm giving this my absolute all, I only need to keep that image in my head of the perfect life, without cigarettes.
P.S. Keep up all the good work other ex-smokers I'm proud of you all, really!
EDIT: Put that last rolly out 00.00.00 on 21/02/11
I'm absolutely positive it will stay that way

welcome danny!! we are all here for you and keep positive!! come here as often as you need to..someone is always here to help glad to hear that you took some time to prepare...it will make the change a little easier..good luck and be kind to yourself!
That's a great attitude you're starting out with It's those that are more scared than excited which I think struggle the most. However, those that are more excited than scared (which is what you seem to be!) seem to really get through the cravings and bad days because they can see how great their non-smoking lives can be!
Hope you're getting through your first day ok, let us know!
Brilliant decision and probably the kindest thing you have done or will do for yourself for a long time.
Keep with it and read a lot, especially during the first little while, that's what got me through. You've probably seen others being advised the same but there are links at the end of signatures that are good to follow.
I was only mooching around whyquit.com yesterday after following a link someone posted. Even where I am at over three months, refreshing the quit can be very helpfull!
Thank you everyone! It's now been 11h40m, today is going to be a big reading/research day. One hour at a time I say, nicotine withdrawals are screaming in my ear right now.
Just keep remembering how you felt earlier - positive you would never smoke again - you dont WANT to smoke anymore - focus on that.
I finished my last fag at 11pm last night - so we are quit date twins! Just think you want to be able to come back on here tomorrow morning and post "I DID IT" not "Oops"
You've now been smoke free for 12h35mins - less than the same again will be one whole day - keep going
