Herbal Help?

Hi Guys,

My quit's going well so far.

BUT...I know each day can be different and I'm keen to treat myself herbally.

I've heard catnip is a good relaxant to deal with the stress of smoking cessation so I'm thinking of buying some teabags.

Has anyone else had experience with other herbs that might help?

Thanks.

Hi and welcome to the forum

St Johns Wort to help with the 'post quitting blues' ladies should not take though if on the pill

Oat Sativia

Rhodiola Rosea is an alternative to St Johns Wort.

I have tried the Oat Sativia and Rhodiola Rosea and would recommend.

Also high strenght slow release vitamin C and vitamin B6

Hope this helps

I'm surprised some spammer hasn't jumped at the chance here already!

Sorry, can't help much btw, had not even considered it until now. I suppose it's because I'm more of the 'get rid of the brain-washing through mental re-alignment' camp... it's better to think that it's all an illusion when I'm having a crave rather than thinking that I'm actually being deprived of something I need to 'treat' with medication.

You're so knowledgable!

Why thank you :D not very often I get called that!

I haven't taken any herbal remedies during this quit but I am a good girl and take my vitamins though (when I remember :o)

xx

Oh Coralie I meant to add, if you like your herbal teas.

Green tea is a good one, I drink that quite a bit now when I'm fed up with plain water. You may have a new friend in the toilet for the first few days when your running back and forth for pees but it does help 'flush you out' and they say it helps 'rebuild our immune system' something which is effected from smoking.

Tic Toc green tea is I found the best as it doesn't have that bitterness to it that some do.

Not sure if that may be removed by mods as may be classed as advertising - sorry mods if it is

:D

Hi,

Seriously tho... i paid £40 for 1 hypnotherapy session... and so far 8 days into it... really good.

QUOTE]

Hi - well done on 8 days quit!

Can I just give you a few words of advice from my experience. I paid a lot of money for hypnotherapy combined with bioresonence, I got to 3 month pretty easily but then it was though a switch was flicked in my head.

The point I'm trying to get to is to practice the techniques given to you during the session and listen to the CD (I was given a CD to listen to at home after the session). That way you won't get complacent (as I did) and you will continue to reinforce your quit, which will help with your 'ongoing mental alignment'

I'm not saying you will be like me and make the same mistake/s I did, I'm sure you will be just fine ;). I just thought I'd give you some advice so others can learn from my mistakes (if that is possible).

Good luck with your quit, I look forward to hearing how you get along.

Hello all -

I have had a reasonably difficult time with both cravings for ciggys and for FOOD! I am currently trying the the peppermint oil (I had some) on the back of the tongue as mentioned in a web article. They also mentioned other oils/vitamins. The peppermint oil, other than the initial tasting awful, seems to soothe me; I put some on my temples too; figure it can't hurt.

I am also trying chomping or sucking on ice. Will let you know if it helps; have gained 15 lbs. thus far (1/2 lb A DAY), so I need something.

The article was - "Quit smoking with Nature's Help", at Ezinearticles.com; do not want to post a link as the page is fraught with ads for all, but I found the article itself helpful.

I have been lurking for quite some time, reading for inspiration; thank you to all who post. I cannot tell you how helpful it is to read about others struggles and successes.

Have a great day all of you.

Cheers
