Hi,

Thought I would try this and see if it helped.

I am Chrissie, 31, mum to 3 and trying to give up smoking! I first tried back in 2005 and stopped for one month. I never tried again until last week when on day 5 (Friday) I caved in and had one and regretted it the second I did. However it didn't stop me having a few more and so here I am on Day 1 again. I am using patches.

Hopefully this will be my last ever day 1 as I really want to stop this bad habit. All last week I longed for one but last night as I smoked my last I thought about how much I wasn't enjoying it and how I am not missing out on anything by not smoking! My DH smokes so I guess this added to my temptation.

Today has been fine and I haven't felt jealous of my DH at all, who wants to be stood outside in the rain and cold anyway? lol

Anyway wishing you all good luck and we can do this :)

Hi Chrissie, well done on your decision to jump straight back onto quitting :D. Must be hard for you with your DH still smoking. Anyway, keep coming on the forum, and read all you can about the quitting process. There is some pretty enlightening information in peoples' signatures. Keep going, and we'll see you on day 2 :). xx

Sorry Guys, I'm new here, been clean since 27th January, using GUM, just been reading some of the threads and would love to know what DH means?

Sorry for being dumb.

Love the forum and it has really helped me!

Welcome and DH means darling husband - similarly you will get darling daughter (dd) or son (ds)

I usually only use dh myself when it's loaded with a healthy dose of sarcasm :D

Read around and post as much as you like. We're all in the same boat so to speak :)

Thaks for the advice, as I've previously said, I'm really enjoying the forum and I've just registered today even though I have been looking in since quit date

Chrissie

Good luck with you quit.

I know exactly how your feeling because that was me 6 weeks ago but here I am 6 weeks on and proud.

Honestly once you get through the 1st few days it will get alot easier.

Everytime I want to smoke I just think how dissapointed I would feel if I smoke. I have a wall chart at home and my son sticks a new sticker on each day and I don't want to let him down.

Just keep yourself busy and let everyone know how you are getting on.

Thanks everyone, day one was a good day and today would be good too if I wasn't eating so much!

I am feeling very positive though :)

Hi, welcome to the forum!

I quit whilst my husband still smoked and I managed to turn it around to become a smug non smoker watching my husband smoke outside in the rain. In a way it helped me be more firm about my quit as I faced it every day, therefore it not being too much of a shock when I happened across smokers!

Keep on quitting. Its a great thing to do.

Well done

Hi Chrissie and welcolme to our family of quitters and congratulations for making the big decission to stop smoking and get healthy. 14 months ago and 3,500 pounds and 12,720 cigs ago I joined this forum after being a smoker for 35/36 years, but if anyone asks me how I managed to do it I always reffer them to this site as it was the people (who are now friends)and their support when I was struggling to give up the fags, that got me to where I am today. So get involved by reading all the old and new posts and find a quit buddy (someone who quit at the same time) and when you feel like screeming or you hit the point in your quit where feel that you are so down, open your comuter and share your feelings by talking to us , because we have all experienced anything that you are going through, but be sure that your partner who is still smoking will be jealous of the fact that you are not smoking and he is, and you never know this might be the encouragement that he needs to stop as well. If you look at the amount of cash that I have saved in just over a year you have got to think of that lovely holiday that you could both have. I will be watching your posts Chrissie to see how you are doing, but remember nobody who has quit the smoking ever said it is easy, because it is a drug but many of us have now managed it and I will make you an offer that after you have stopped for a year you are allowed to joint the "Penthouse" but better than that I will have a lovely bottle of Scotlands finest 12 year old Balvenie, malt whisky waiting for you,the only problem is that you need to come and collect it at my home in Fife.

But well done and don't give in to the Nico moster.

Dannyboy:)
