Hiya all new year quitters

Would like to agree that this place is the best for support when you are starting or wavering in your quit. There are people here who have been quit for years, months and days. They can all help you in your quest to become smoke free. It's not easy, but it is do-able.

Good luck with your journey and welcome to the forum x

Hey there,

I am intending to quit on 1st of Jan.... am cutting down and am on the silkcut silvers ( very unsatifying cigarettes, yuck!). this isn't my first quit... have done it few times, lasting as long as 8 years on one occasion... the last one was the hardest I managed a year that time, so am preparing myself for it being the same this time.

I have bought HEALTHY snacks to munch on when I am craving so I don't pile on the pounds... and have a inhalator on stand by for the first few days. can't wait to get started, would do it today, but have set the quit date and want to stick to it so there's no false starts...

good luck to everyone joining me on Jan 1st...

Best of everything (not luck, but support and creativity) to you Vicki. It seems a shame that you are so worried about this- you talk about 'managing' and 'lasting', but this is a lifechanging miracle, not a last man standing endurance test.

Please be positive- you have everything to gain and absolutely nothing to lose. It is a wonderful world without the smoke screen.

I know this must all sound a bit yada yada yada- I stopped in November for the zillionth time and felt sick with fear that I was setting myself up to fail again, but I acted calm and positive to encourage a dear smoking friend- and it really has helped me.

You can do this- millions of people have. Not smoking is natural- smoking is actually an abomination- think of smoking beagles.

You have done this before and can call upon your knowledge of obstacles from those times to do it again

And if you try, but start again- dont worry about that either, I am sure that you are a wonderful person, and that you can succeed.

Do lots of reading and take some time to post your reasons for ending the madness. I hope to enjoy your journey with you.:)

Well done Jan on your quit.

I am sure you will be fine if you go out, you know you no longer wish to be caught in the smoking trap so be confident in the strength you havae already shown.

Have a great evening & Happy New Year :D

Have faith in yourself. I didn't stop going out, just cut down a little on the drink. I am now back to full drinking mode but it took me a while I admit. Enjoy yourself, life is too short!

Not smoking can be something to embrace. A joy. A chink of light in a foggy life. Face those demons and each time you do you come back stronger.

Happy new year! x
