After some trawling for stats (not easily found) the most recent general figures suggest that only 15% of quits started will last 52 weeks meaning the October 2009 group were special, clever, unusual, lucky and totally FABULOUS (and completely bonkers :D)
It has been great to see so many positive posts from all the Octos this month and in turn see a new group of quitters coming hot on our heels supporting and having fun (they dont seem to be drinking as much as we all did though ). Good luck to them all.
So please get together and support each other. The forum works by giving and receiving so even at Day 1 post and reply... your replies will help reinforce your own quit as well as support others.
Maybe October is auspicious (Jack ) or maybe it was karma, but Octoquits officially translated means "a group of good people laughing, crying and supporting each other to freedom"

Pol, one year quit thanks to the above lot, and a few more outside the above lot.... and wine of course, when Christine wasn't sneaking around drinking it all.
Well done you are a great group of lovely and supportive people. Thank you for keeping me on the straight and narrow (well sort of). Had I stuck with you guys today would have been my day to enter the penthouse and boy I could kick myself or let Lorna clip me with the sharp end of her clipboard or Pol beat me with her big stick for letting the nicodemon beat me!
All I can say to the newbies is that supporting each other is a must and if you do ever feel like giving in to the nicodemon just think is it really worth it? Will having that 1 puff change things or make them better and in short the answer is no. Don't let the monster beat you as you will kick yourself later and will think what was the point of that puff as I am just back to square 1 now. Sorry just my bit of advice and yes I know I am probably not the best role model but just my advice from my experience

THANKYOU!!!!! I needed to read some thing like this this morning!!!
I have got home from my night shift and i was absolutely gagging for a smoke and knowing that my hubby had some here, i was very eager to come home!!!
Fortunately i have logged onto here first before pinching my hubby's baccy!!
I am proud member of the 8-9-10's (for those of us who quit in aug/sept 2010) and they have really helped me out when i have had a tough day/couple of days.
Being part of a group, where you are all going through roughly the same thing, at roughly the same time is invaluable, so i would urge all newbies to give it a go!
That is so great to read! I am in the Oct. 2010 group and on my second week CT! I never thought in a million years I would or could go CT and not cave, but I am doing it. Yesterday was a test but I made it and I am so thankful! This place has been great and I want to make to the penthouse next year!!!!!
