Hello... Im Richard 38 and from Manchester. I have tried a couple of times to quit but now I want to quit to live! I smoke too much and it rules my life! I do approx 40 a day. Tomorrow I start on chimpax and cant waith to stop this, my few beers of an evening was my downfall with zyban... as I fell really sick.

i'm too young to die yet and too old to know better!

reading your threads it sounds like your posts will be a great help to remind me why I'm doing this.

Levs1000 Days Smoke Free

Hi Richard,

Welcome to the site. Its a great place to some for support or advice or just for somewhere to have a vent and shout.

Champix is great stuff to help to actually stop. Eating before you take them helps with the sickness if I remember correctly (not using them now, was on them a couple of years ago) From what I have read on here though you can't drink when you take them now and that has definately changed since I was on them.

Champix will really help your initial stopping but education is the key to staying stopped. Follow the links in peoples signatures and read read read.

Hi Rich,

Welcome to the forum. You will get lots of help and advice on here and will make lots of friends too that have all been in the same boat as you and of course myself included.

Im on Champix, started mine last Weds 20th Oct and by Sunday 24th i had my last cig in the morning and for me i have quit. I make sure i eat then take my tabs otherwise they can make you feel sick. I also know that your not allowed to drink when on these so bare that in mind but for a few weeks to help be smoke free having a drink wont hurt and i dont know about you but i would rather be smoke free and look forward to a nice glass or 2 once treatment is complete.

Im doing a daily diary if you like only so that i can keep track myself on how im doing and make sure i dont lapse back again. Those Champix seem to be doing the trick, i even sleep better now.

Good luck Rich, we are all rooting for you

Take care

Many thanks for your advice, much appreciated.

Could you help? Could I take herbal sleeping tablets, as from my Zyban experience, not sleeping for 2 days really caused more stress than not having the cigs!

Many Thanks

Rich

Welcome Rich

Be strong my friend.

I'm on Champix too and am doing well, now day 6.

Don't really know the answer to your herbal sleeping pill question, as I havn't tried it myself, personally I would give it a go as it's natural.

The literature says there are no know conflicts with other meds.

So it might be worth it.

Keep the faith.
