Well, I have made it to day 2 but just wanted to ask a question... I have not put a patch on today as I would like to start seeing the benefits of not having nicotine in my body, i have a spare patch with me in case I need it. Is this going to make it even harder than yesterday using a patch?

Hi Stuey,

Wearing a patch gives you a steady trickle of ncotine which helps lessen the craves & withdrawals. If you don't wear one then obviously you will not get that!! See how you go & If it gets too uncomfortable you have a patch with you. Do what feels right to you but just don't smoke ;)

Wow, its odd how you don't realise how much control nicotine has over you - my head feels like its all over the place but still holding strong... Im going to try and avoid the patches if i can but at least i know i have them there if I start to weaken

Hi Stu I know nothing about patches so I suppose I shouldnt comment but I do know that CT is not so bad and if you can go the few days it takes to get the niccotine out of your system then go for it, but I dont know how strong your will power is and would hate for you to lose a quit through not using all means that are available to help you, so it has to be your decision after all its your quit.

Using NRT holds no shame and if its the only way for someone to sustain a quit then I say use it, and use it for however long it takes for the quitter to feel comfortable and strong.

One thing you have to remember is that sometimes the ritual of smoking is harder to break than the niccotine itself or it was for me so trying to cope with both things at the same time can be hard, but you sound positive and determined so I say go for it and if you feel even remotely like you might smoke slap a patch on and come on here and shout for help.

Not what you're looking for?
