Well done Bird...
was just looking at my spreadsheet and noticed this.. logged on immediately to pass on a well earned congratulations to you M!!!
Its been quite the journey this last 12 months for you, well, indeed many of us, but right now, you have passed this 12 month, 1 year anniversary of the day you decided.. enough is enough.. and stubbed out.
I read tons of your posts along the way, and can certainly see you encountered many of the things i have at various points, but have overcome them. Your recent brush with the demon recently i think has likely served to reinforce your quit now as you just know it would not be the right move and its helped to convince you that even after 12 months you are still recovering from the addiction.
Be 100% proud of who you are, where you are, and where you are now going to take your healthier life though M, in many years to come you'll look back on this first year and be forever thankful of the lessons you've learned. Never know? you may convince others to do the same some day and you'll be saving lives as you do!!!
Well done M.
Proud of you!
Jase

"One year, 2 hours, 10 minutes and 7 seconds. 7301 cigarettes not smoked, saving £1,584.49. Life saved: 3 weeks, 4 days, 8 hours, 25 minutes."
Well I'd like to thank you all, for listening to me when I whinged, for replying when I was thoughtful, for prompting me to assess the situation through withdrawal and relearning. Some people quit with ease for others like me it's a tad traumatic with a soupcon of unadulterated rage.
Been a bit a year and that's for sure.
How did today begin for me, much the same as last year with a drinking fest, which didn't end until 5am, being awake again before 9 am and rather than a drunken run to punish a walk along a beach, with the sun shining and clearing away of the hangover. So some things are still the same.
I remember reading on whyquit in the beginning about people who'd continued smoking regardless of ridiculous health situations, such as the loss of both limbs and though not that bad yet, goodness knows where it would have ended.
So free and healing for a year - thank fook, one very minor blip - 1 puff, a pointed reminder that I AM AN ADDICT, unlike others if I ever forget this I'll think I'm free and do the ridiculous again.
Jude cheers for the shout starting the thread and I'm good just lacking a lap top so on antiquated tower as no way phone could've coped with this epic. Canna see da pic though!
Cav, cheers for that, still a fantastic song and appreciate the time from yourself during this year.
Cheers Jase, always good to see your posts and keep going strong.
Jackie, still hoping to never catch you up.
Fi, ha ha, I's in, where be the alcohooool - oops perhaps not, any pink grapefruit barley water, some paracetamol and pack of ready salted crisps..... Excellent song by the way good role call of the great and the good, but repetative music has a special place for me too, really did like so much about it especially the anti coca cola/nestle thing.
Cheers Jody, great to be here - there were times, well not really but christ I could've done without the shite.
Jamangie, hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm marmite <drools> been a bit of a top scoffer today so for brekkie tomorrow, the lad hates marmite may need to give him a nice kiss before we both head into work.
Cheers Bella, great to see ya here, thanks for being the first to befriend me. it meant a lot, still haven't changed me deodorant though. No lolling here (think we should petition for a new emoticon)!!
Cheers Bradders, will keep a space for you, didn't get to the 10K yesterday, still not right, thinking of GNR but can always defer if necessary. Onwards and upwards eh?
Many Thanks Trev, hoping year 2 is less chaotic and a smooth ride would be nice.
Cheers Dee, you'll be here soon, still lovin' the name. Have you been letterboxing recently?
Well to anyone whose managed to read this far - if I can do it anyone can, the simple truth is you have to want not to smoke more than you want to smoke, that hard and that simple.
Over and out
M
congratulations . time goes fast
.
It sure does, although I do remember the early days wishing they'd go even faster.
So proud of you Mel and once again
Congratulations on making the penthouse (had me lil worried)
I think for us FEAR will stop us going back to a smelly life of being controlled by our addiction. So into year 2 you go.
We have the knowledge and we have the power to stay free thanks to this forum I never want to quit again and i know you feel the same!!!!
Well Done again quit buddy

No need to worry Chrissy old fruit, as expected cigarettes can setill tempt me, it is a constant choice, some people don't take long to readjust others of us do. Might prefer to not be in the later camp but sadly there I reside. Too true though, it is fear that will keep me free and complacency that defeats me. Always known that.
Well done MAH welcome to the penthouse
Well done Mah on making it to the Penthouse....looking forward to catching up to you
