cut down then quit method
Yep cut down tonight and stop tomorrow hows that for you.
Sorry but the problem with the cut down route is that most people cut down then work back up again until they are back to were they started, dont know any one on here that has gone that way but we will soon find out as they will bombard me with flack LOL.
If you have the inhalater (is that the spelling) then use that instead of the cigs, are you meant to smoke at the same time as using the puffer?? I dont know but I do know that there are quite a few who have used the puffer and managed to quit so go for it what have you got to lose, nothing, what have you got to gain your health and extend your life .
I wanted to cut down before my quit but i couldn't. I mean why should i? nicotine is very addictive and the more concerned i became about cutting back the more i smoked. In fact the day i wrote my reasons on here for wanting to quit was a day or so before my actual quit and i mut have smoked 10 fags during that. I was an addict!
So what i'm saying is if you want my opinion just go for it..... smoke as normal then quit. I Smoked tons the day before my quit, went cold turkey, a little but loopy for a day or two but it was worth it.
Lots of luck.
ya same here, i tried this once before and it didnt work for me, all or nothing lol. i wont lie the first week was hard but not hard like training for a marathon but the taking control hard work if that makes sence.

Well it sounds like you've done well. Any advice you can offer such as how often to use inhalator, first cigarette of day or not, and how long you can leave it between inhalating and smoking...
Hiya HH, I think dubbs47's reply was just a little bit tongue in cheek, and you can see from his sig he went down the cold turkey route. if that's the way you want to do it, give it a go. If it doesn't work, try something else. As people have said on here, as with all addictions "One is too many and a thousand not enough". Just don't stop trying. David

I am sorry i misread your post ,I did cut back then quit but did not use any inhalator
Having been quit for just over 6 months now I'm almost forgetting the early days.
Your post / query about reducing and then quitting made me recall that I did cut down before stopping completely. But over only 3 days.
Initially, due to dental work, I needed to stop smoking for 8 weeks following the work and 1 week before the procedure was to be carried out.
I got to 11 days before D Day (dental not quit) and cut back to half, next day half again and then the last day of smoking I had just 3 or 4. Read about patches whilst having my last smoke. Decided to go without patches, managed for 3 days or so then used patches for 2 weeks or so then stopped those.
Oh.......... and the giving up for just 8 weeks? Felt better for stopping and realised that having got that far, it would just be plain daft to start again.
So each day I choose not to smoke and here I am 6 months later
Do what works for you ............ if one things doesn't then try somethings else, like Dave said, just don't give up trying to find what works for you in aiding your quit.
When you reduce your intake of Nicotine your body takes a few days to adjust to the new level.
If you use patches you'll find that its noticeable when you step down patch strength, but you only do that a couple of times.
When you try to cut down you repeat that step down more often and potentially prolong out the hardest part. Plus you have the cigarettes, you're still using them and its easy to just drift back up.
Everyone is different but cutting down is generally seen as the hardest ways to do it.
