You know since the time I started smoking, I haven't had a proper sleep in god knows how long. I would never get that refreshed feeling. There were times very rarely that I would take a nap or sleep and get up refreshed, but most of the time I would get up feeling lethargic, tired and sometimes with a headache if I slept too much.
I have spoken to other smokers, and hey its all the same complaint, wish they could get good sleep.
I mean especially me, I was deaf and blind to any complaints about smoking that I never attributed this to smoking.
But ever since I quit smoking and stopped taking other stimulants like coffee, I am getting the best sleep ever. I wake up fresh, ready to do things, my face is so much cleaner, no eyeybags, the dry skin has decreased.
My concentration is much better.
After looking back now, I can see why they call smoking so harmful, just imagine, this due to smoking your blood pressure keeps going up and down, you dont get good sleep, oxygen is not flowing into parts it should be, your immunity system which acts like a wall around the house is always down, there is no wonder we get all the diseases.

How are you doing that Ryan, are you some kind of superhuman?!
I agree about the skin being less dry, but I am pulling my hair out it's been so long since I had a decent kip. Have tried cutting down on caffeine during the day, and none after 5pm, and tried Kalms as well, but am still all over the place when it comes to getting some kip.
In fact the only nights I have managed to get to sleep ok and have slept throughout the night have been when there was a cold glass of something involved!
Would love to know your secret - hopefully that will be me one day...
I too slept like a log (a log sleeps?) anyway i was out for the count when i smoked but would struggle to wake. When i quit i would fall asleep early but be awake around 3am and could not go back, the insomnia was awful.
Now my sleep is of a better quality, i kinow this because i actually wake up happy and yes my skin looks younger already (for an ex fag hag) Its taken a while for it all to settle down.
Was just about to reply and noticed that both people who are now having a great sleep have gone cold turkey and the others are on NRT. Maybe thats the difference?
I have to say that I don't get a great quality of sleep anyway due to sinus probs but since going down to the lowest dose of patches two weeks ago my sleep has really improved.
Not sure if its the patches or just something that happens at a different stage as I had weeks of waking up at 3am every single morning too.
I am sure we will all be bouncing out of bed fresh as daisys at some point so stick with it!

Try to cut down on all stimulants, and dont eat heavy after 6 (but I find this one difficult), i am sure you will get there,, main thing is to take out all the stimulants and relax at night
Day one of fourth month CT and will say that I did get a few nights were couldnt sleep mostly between week 3 and 4 and the last 2 weeks of month 3 so maybe the 3s LOL Did find I woke about 4ish but only odd nights but things seem to settling down, I dont take notice of my sleep pattern that much so think thar helps as when you get worried about it it actually gets worse, if you do wake and its pos read a bit or have some way of playing gentle music and dont try to hard, or wake OH and have fun LOL
Hi why befor 6pm do you have to be in for then, I was allowed out untill at least 9pm when I was your age.
Me and you could get together instead cause the other one is a Toa* what you think, whatever we can get up too it can be between 9pm and next day 6pm ?????
Ha ha ha Vicstar ... tha cracked me up; I did wonder the same !!!!
I have always been a sound sleeper and put my head on the pillow and am awake for the morning before you know it ... I have never realised how bad it must be for people who don't sleep straight through until I quit smoking!! I hyad the usual waking at around 2 am etc for the first few weeks in the quit and then my sleep has been pretty erratic and often waking for a wee in the night which I never used to do. I am at just over 4 months quit now and i am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO RELIEVED that I appear to have my normal sleeping pattern back i,e, SLEEPING LIKE A LOG!!! Sadly the strange dreams remain as I always had them anyway!!
If you are struggling with the sleep and used to sleep well it is obviously some weird quirk to do with quitting but it will go back to normal..... just as well ,, me + no sleep = miserable moo.
