I went to the pub last night with a friend (who is also quitting) to celebrate and it was great. Walking through the 'fog' at the entrance to the pub just made me realise that I was definitely doing the right thing.
My first post on this site was called ‘Feeling a Failure’ but that is definitely not how I feel today.
Well done to all of you on your own quit and thanks for the continued support.
Staying strong together

Congrats on you first month done n dusted!!!! Isn't it great now your through the first !!
tis funny though, when your quitting at first you are kinda fearful.. but of what?
Fearful of failing at quitting?
or
fearful of succeeding?
but then you suddenly get that moment in your quit where you suddenly feel that its the best thing you could have done.. and thats when your quit becomes truly yours .. it takes some looking after granted... but the rewards by far outweigh any negatives. and cravings.

Good on you!!!!!!!
well done.
Great post. Absolutely spot on. That "fear" can be almost overwhelming at the start.
I can remember the fear I felt when my quit day was looming – it was almost like the world would stop turning when that day arrived.
When I put my last cigarette out I should have felt elated, but instead there was almost a blind panic when the reality hit that I had no cigs in the house and this was it! Sounds dramatic I know, but very real at the time.
If only I could have seen what I would feel like a month into the future – feeling FANTASTIC and the world is still turning
well done, this time nxt wk will be my 1st mnth without smoking, reading every1's comments have made me feel much better!! Being scared is so true, i still am now, is the 1st mnth the worst?? please tell me it is x
I know what you mean about being scared, but when you wake up in the morning just say to yourself "Today I am not going to smoke". Taking it a day at a time is less scary.
Roll on this time next week and you can shout from the rooftops
It will, honest! There are moments, but they pass. The first days are the toughest because you are breaking a habit that is so well established, but as time passes, and your new non-smoking habit continues, it gets easier and easier.
The fear that you will never have fun again without a cigarette? That goes away, too.
