I am just starting my third week of none smoking. I am using the nasal spray and 25mg nicorette patches. I am just a bit worried about weight increase as I am about 1 stone overweight already and I don't want to put any more on so I am trying to diet also.
Yippee I am into my third week: I am just... - No Smoking Day
Yippee I am into my third week
Hi Sue and welcome to the forum.
Wow into your 3rd week hope you are feeling really proud.
There are a few of us around here who have put weight on whilst quitting, most of us agree that a few extra lbs are worth it, however once your quit is strong and long you can then start working on the diet.
There is a social group around here if you look in quick links and social groups you will find a group that is maybe just what you need.
Stay strong and post often.
Hi Sue
Congrats to you on beginning your third week of being quit, that's something to really smile about for sure.
Re the weight worry, I was in a similar boat at the start of my quit mid last October. Almost a stone over what I'd like and with Christmas looming and an ever increasing appetite (food so easy became a substitute) I really didn't want to put to much more on, if any.
However, to worry to much about gain and concentrate on my quit, I decided not to get to hung up about the weight and deal with getting my quit more solid first.
I did loose 6lbs before Christmas but put that on again and more afterwards but it's now stabilised thank goodness and now I'm beginning to address that issue.
Not everyone puts on but a good percentage do. Some even loose as their taste buds come back to life and oddly enough, go off chocolate:eek:
Up your exercise, eat little and often which will help sugar blood crashes and if you like a tipple or two in the evening and weekends, be careful. I, and many others, found that the wine/beer/spirits etc, all go down a lot quicker without the smokes.
All the best with it all and keep us updated with your progress
Pol
well done 3 weeks done and dusted

June..
One vice at a time....
Well done sue, just started week 3 with patches myself.
Just deal with one issue at time and sort the others later. Being on the forum helps, but I've never spent so much time infront of a computer as I have this last week or so..... I'll worry about that later - lol
Thanks for all your replies. It really helps when other people understand what we are all going through. I am going to take one day at a time and concentrate on not smoking. I am really pleased I found this site. Thanks again.

Stay strong xx
hi sue-
I'm at three weeks too and going through the same thing. was really beating up on myself last night for some reason. Then I remembered the remarkable thing that I have managed to quit smoking.
But yeah, I've upped the exercise and was munching on celery the other day, which seemed to help. Not the tastiest food in the world, but I don't think I'm munching for taste as much as having something to do with my mouth. The old oral fixation.
