It's silly, but, TEA

It's foul now, tastes all of chemicals and nastiness and none of the lovely comforting cup hugging, wake up call. I don't think it's because of association with cigarettes as such, I think it's more the way my taste buds are changing- maybe- whoever knows anything for sure.

I am gutted, I bloody loved tea- more than fags. It goes without saying, that I'm not going to smoke to make tea taste good again- that would be preposterous, but I do feel annoyed- I'd squared with all the loss aspects of stopping smoking, but I'd decided as a reward I was going to keep up every other vice- but now one of them doesn't do it for me anymore.

I s'pose it's just part of what changes with such a monumental change- but it's still bloody annoying- I hate instant coffee, so tomoz I is off to buy a decent coffee maker- urgh- baby steps I like, unplanned additional sacrifices I'm not so happy with......

I don't drink "normal" tea but I'm drinking shed loads of Peppermint Tea. It's boring, but it's something to do, caffeine free and apparently good for you with zero cals.

There's a few things I've gone off as well, like tinned soup. I used to like it, until I discovered lately that it's absolutely disgusting. Chocolate tastes really sweet too.

Along with your fresh ground coffee, you could try some other teas? If you had the usual regular PG / Typhoo, then try the lighter ones.... earl grey maybe? I find that lighter and refreshing.

Then like Polster suggests, try some herbal ones. I drink those of an evening now. Since quitting caffeine just sends me loopy. Coffee is still lovely though and decaf is fine after a certain time of the day.

I am really glad wine still tastes good............. though maybe it might not be a bad thing to loose wine? No..... wines good :)

Hi Pols and congrats for doing so well so far.

My taste buds have changed loads...went from tea with milk and 1 to black coffee and decaff black earl grey. Had to switch to decaff coffee as well as the caffiene was making my hyper. :o

Like more spicey foods but also have a real taste for fish and beans...random.

Howveer, fortunatly I still enjoy red wine in fact probably more so, which is obviously a great relief.

Relax lovely it will sort itself out....your body is dealing with a lot right now and will settle down.

Yes, thank goodness wine's still good- if I'd had to lose wine too that would just be too much to bear. Thanks all for the ideas, I've dusted off the red bush and chai- both also foul, but will perservere...

When I smoked I always drank coffee, now I hate the stuff and haven't had a single sip since I stopped, it was always an association with smoking, never quite understood it.
