Me and my friend Nick have been talking about quitting smoking for over 6 months now. Today morning, whilst smoking we both agreed that 'this one' will be our last one. Threw the cigarettes away and are clean for about 5 hours now. <Proud> Hope We can hold it for a little longer.
Been a 15 a day smoker for about 4 and a half years.

I'm Nick, I'm 22 years old and I've been smoking for about 7 years now. I'm currently smoking about 15 cigarettes a day. I really hope I had my last cigarette this morning.

Hi Nick and Don
congrats on your decisons to quit the sh!t, really helpful you both quitting at the same time you can at least support each other through the rough times and pat each other on the back in the good times... important thing is to get busy keep your minds occupied away from the normal things you associate smoking with .......good luck lads keep posting each day let us all know how you are doing
@bradders: thanks for the reply, I know I sound rediculous but encouragement from someone that understands really helps. I have to admit we tried not to change our daily routine and still not smoke, but I do think changing the routine makes things simpler. I really hope that it gets easier with time. What period would you guys say is the hardest to go through?

This site had been great, I have been quit for 18 days now, and if it wasn't for encouragement from people on here then i am sure i wouldn't have lasted this long.
Well done in joining, and wishing you good luck with your quit.
Hi, glad you decided to quit, and with support! For me the first two days were the hardest, I have been quit for one week now and am pleased as punch with myself.
I think I'm actually getting a bit annoying but I don't care You can do it too, change things up a bit and keep busy.

Welcome to the forum and well done on the decision to quit possibly one of the most important you will ever make and you will be losing nothing but you will regain control of your life and that has to be good
You will find all the help and support you need on here as we all help each other just like a family we are here for you every step of the way cheering the good days and sympathising with the bad but the good far outweigh the bad
Read the posts on here you will find a lot of tips and advice and in the signatures of a lot you will find links to other sites just click on them Here are 2 I find very good to start you off whyquit.com and woofmang.com Read, read and then read some more as the more you read and learn about why you smoked and about your addiction the easier your quit will be
Don and Nick, you won't regret your decision and doing it together is a great idea.
The first week I think I found the hardest, then coming up to the end of the month, since seeing the month out it has seemed easier. But everyones quit is different, don't expect there to be problems.
As the others say, read and read, if you know the mental games that go on, it's easier to play them and win. I'm not going to pretend it'll be a laugh all the way, there will be ups and downs, but the downs start becoming less and get taken over by the ups.
You'll find a host of experience and advice on here, spend time looking, it will be a good distraction if you need one.
Hi Nick, Don and let's include Anna, like the others have said everyone is different. I dought if there are any two quits that are the same.
I'm now 12 weeks and I don't really remember too much about the early stages. I remember the first full day then after that until about three weeks I don't remember much. At three weeks is when I joined this forum and have not looked back but I know we all talk about the three's. The third day, the third week and the third month, I am going to tell you for me it was true. These are the times I found the hardest and now in the third month it's still hard but manageable now. It's a long hard road but when you get along that road it is so worth it, your life changes, your world changes and the scenery is beautifull.
Stick with it tell yourself you can do it and you will. I have smoked 52 years and stopped CT first time, it can be done. I don't like sending people to my threads as I feel it's being big headed but take a look at this it may help;
Well done on geting through day 1, just take one day at a time, come on here and read up as much as you can on the symptoms link in my sig, it may help explain what your experiencing, the way you feel etc.
Keep up the good work...just think of all the good things that are going to happen to you and your body...you will start to notice the difference within a couple of days...
I am on day 10 now, and feel so much better...and my sense of smell and taste are coming back so much...I was lay in bed this morning...and I could smell the porridge that my hubby had made...amazing...
