Hi all im new to these forums my name is Kay and its my first day today with no fags.

Im useing patchers and feeling very postive.

It has just got to the stage that i just cant afford to smoke anymore i gave up once for 5 months then started again was gutted when i did, so i feel very postive and have made me realise how easy it is to start again

My partner and his son smoke at home but outside they are not surportive at all but i want to get healthier and this is my choice.

I will have more money to spend on myself and i will be able to treat myself something i no way can do while im smoking.

I have been doing weight watchers now for 3 weeks and i will be going every week so i hopfully i wont be puting on weight.

Is this possible to pack up smoking and loose weight?

Would love to here from anyone with advice

My name is Kay and im from Lincolnshire:p

Hi Kay

Congratulations on your quit :)

I gave up for 2 years a while ago and joined a gym at the same time. I found that losing weight and giving up smoking go really well together, so you should be fine doing ww at the same time. Good on you! :)

I've had a blip but am back to the quit now!

Hi Kay and welcome.

I did not use the patches, so i can not give you any help with them, but it is great to hear that you feel really positive, that is a great start.

Your reasons, money and health, are ones that are heared a lot around here and are very strong reasons, so hold on to those if you feel a bit weak at any point.

You are right about it been your choice, however it would be nice to have the support of those you care about, hopefully we can provide the support that they cannot.

Most of us do put some weight on, but the main aim to start with is to become a non smoker, so lets start with that and worry about everything else later.

I would suggest you try the links in some of the sigs, they will really help you get your head in the right place.

Well done on your quit and keep posting to let us know how you are getting on.

Hi Kay and welcome.

Lots of luck with your quit and you are so right having tried before does make you stronger.

Post loads there is always someone around to offer support or a kick in the backside...

Most of us have had a moan about weight, but after eating everything in sight last week this week has been slightly more controlled. Anyway I figure I will need something to do in the new year so it may be weight watchers as well.

Best of luck tomorrow... :)

Hi Kay

My first day too, and money is a prime concern for me also. I've been puffing for 40 years and today is my day. If I can do it (23 hours so far) so can you. BTW my wife quit in mid-August and tonight she counted out the money saved (been putting it in a jar every day) - £430! I wish I'd done it when she did.

I'm not thinking about weight or any other side effects. My only concern is not to have a cigarette today. I'll worry about everything else when that's taken care of.

All day I've been checking this site all day - it's very helpful - lots of good people - I recommend that you log in as often as you can.

I'll be watching for your posts (in a nice way) - we've both quit on the same day!!!!

Kay I am on Day 1 as well, lets do this together. I have been going to slimming world for 3 years, reached target 2 yers ago and kept there until today. Have eaten more today than normal by a long way, and not sure where I am going with weight but I need to give up cigs or not be here, so no choice really. Come back to me if you need to.
