Pearl, the early days are always the worst ones, but with determination, stubbornness and good support (eg this forum is a great start), you should find once through them it will be quite a bit more manageable.

Are you quitting smoking by cold turkey or using any NRT or other quit methods?

just on cold , i have tryed patches before cewing gum with nicotine , pils noting helped me to stay a whole day without cigs (used to smoke abt 30 cigs per day ) so now im using food as substitute 4 cigs not great ideea but the best i have today , yesterday i was more brave i just trow away all gigs and asthreys from house . lol .

if its gets worse i will ask my doc

Pearly, welcome and best wishes to you. I am using Champix and am on Day 5. Through not making it at first people on this forum helped me to understand that determination and a clear resolve coming from me was one of the necessary things needed to succeed.

The first few days prior to that (I had a previous day 1) were incredibly difficult. Now I'm feeling quite comfortable.

Hope you have a good day. TGIF

Ok... well you are braver than i was, i am using patches myself, but i give you my utmost respect for going the cold turkey route. At least this way the nicotine will be out of your system quicker.

Check my signature though and you'll see a link which has ways of dealing with 'cravings' should you get any, but i can recommend definitely stocking up on some fruit juice. (i found orange good), I found the earlier days were better this time as i drank quite a bit of fruit juice at the times when I would otherwise have been smoking. Don't really know if it helps clear the toxins out, but it sure did help.

Deep breathing with a view to relaxing helps alot too... people keep telling me i am sighing in the office, and i just think.. ahh good :)

Keep up your efforts and do not be afraid, nor embarrased to ask for help at any time on here.. we are all after the same thing, if any of us can help, we'll do so gladly :)

Good job on the CT I have tried it and just couldn't do it, so I respect everyone that can do it that way. I'm on the patch and on day 5 and feeling good. Keep coming back here and posting, this is a great place for support and reading and seeing how others are quitting and the encouragement is great. Good luck and keep in touch.

Hi Pearl,

I went CT, but I had an Electronic ciggie in case I needed a puff.

It is possible, but you need a lot of willpower and determination.

I recommend reading up on people having their lungs removed and legs amputated to help stiffen your resolve (Marg will be along soon to post some links).

Also, when your feeling sorry for yourself, remember that your withdrawal symptoms are 1/100th that of a Heroin addict.

Bit tough, but thats whats got me through, and as they say, If I can do it, anyone can!

Good luck,

Paul
