Day 42: Last day in week 6, and last day on step 1 patches...

Well today marks the very last day on the step 1 patches for me, and the last day of week 6. Tomorrow i start the step 2: 14mg patches and instead of feeling dread, i feel hopeful that stepping down a level can only be a good move.

its the first part of the reduction in dose which will take 2 weeks on them, and then after that i move down again to the step 3: 7mg's.

So today is a big last day on week 6.. still a long way to go yet, but I've bought in some 10 year old Rioja wine in for tonight to celebrate all the same :)

On the whole? i feel alot better, as the weeks have gone on, my confidence, health, feeling of well being .. just about most aspects of life have improved and continue to improve. Yes i've had the odd really rocky day, but as most have seen probably, i'm a stubborn ox, and refuse to let an addiction beat me.

Once i'm done with the patches altogether, i'm going to further increase the exercise i'm already doing.. and i'm already used to now living my life without even thinking of smoking.. and thats how it will stay.

For the greater good.

Wow, congratulations. I can't wait to get there (I'm only day 3 of no cigs and 2 weeks on Champix).

I'm sure you'll do great on the lower dosage.

thank you :).. its half an hour left til its been exactly 6 weeks now..

I'm through what i think is the toughest bit.. i'm full expecting 2-3 days or so of increased pangs and deep breathing needed as i get used to the 14mg patch over the 21mg one, but what makes the difference is how positive i feel about it.

I have no worry about dropping down a level of patch now, i see it as necessary. The less nicotine i get in the form of a patch, the better i'll be generally. I plan to play on my Nintendo Wii a bit more next week to destress if i need to aswell.

Not free of the addiction yet.. but i am dealing with it well and thats helping.

Mind over matter. - I don't mind and it don't matter :)

Good luck to you and well done Jase- I am still stuck on the 21mg one, but i may go down this week too. I don't think you are actually supposed to stay on it for a year like i have done!

How long have you been smoke free though? if you can go 6 weeks smoke free and on the patches, then step down to the 14mg ones for 2 weeks, and then 2 on the 7mg.

Despite the stress, keep away from the smokes completely. *They do not exist any more*
