It hasn't been to bad, i've been smoking 30 / 40 a day for the best part of 20 years got up one morning and had the early morning cigarette that we all used to love and i just didn't feel right. I ened up chilling on the sofa with a smashing headache for rest of the day. Anyway that was my trigger to give up.

Welcome to the forums and congratulations on making a lifestyle choice which could quite possibly be one of the best choices you will ever have made now and for a very long time.
Please do share your views/experiences and concerns as you go and realise that you are not alone and that there is always a better choice than smoking ever was.
some do find it easier than others, lets hope you are one of them, however i would hang fire on saying it will be easy just yet lets get you through the first week and see how you feel.
i know for lots of us the 3's were harder (3 days, 3 weeks etc), so be prepared, but who knows you might sail through it
Thats just an association trigger right there. Dinner+smoke were part of daily routine.
Ask anyone which cigarettes they 'think' they enjoyed in their day and they would probaby say first one of the day, and the one after lunch.. the rest? pale into just habit.
I had some moments just after lunch were i got exactly what you described, rode through them and now i don't get them at all after lunch.
It will pass.
The average craving lasts what? 3 minutes? although the way it plays with your head, it seems like much longer. Get through each one as it comes.. sometimes they come in little waves and your mind starts to wander a bit on it, but the simple truth is its the addiction nagging you to feed it. Which of course you are not going to do.
Stick at it, take the rough with the smooth, go to your corner and come out fighting
I'm on day 5 of c/t and still going strong. I found Day 3 was tough going but this forum has been an immense help in keeping me focused and on track. I've taken to sucking a strong. sugar free mint after eating - I think the tingling sensation in the mouth helps to 'round the meal off'.
Below is my standard welcome and advice post which I try to give all new members
