Made it to Day 3.

Just had to move myself into Day 3. I love the way this forum is laid out in days/weeks etc - just like an online quitting calendar :D It's a bit like those good behaviour charts you see on 'Supernanny' - so I'm moving myself up a rung! :D

I'm feeling really good this morning - still a little irritable but I think that has more to do with another night of next to no sleep than anything else. That aside, I feel different - hard to explain...I'd like to say 'lighter' but my bathroom scales disagree on that one! :) But it is something along those lines, just can't quite put my finger on it...

I'm off now to pin some more money onto my notice board...£22.50 saved so far! That's a takeaway for the whole family!!!

Have a great weekend all!

Indeed congratulations on getting to this day.. putting that money on the board is a great way of visualising just how much you were blowing on smoking, and if after 2 weeks you see it all there, you should just think: 'would i be able to take a lighter and set all that on fire'.. never to see it again? well thats what we were doing before right?

Good way to do that. i'm keeping mine in a tin, i feel a bit like scrooge mcduck when i count it up.

Thank you Joan and Jase, you are both right about it going up in puffs of smoke!

Jase - Your point regarding setting the money on fire is a powerful one and one that I will certainly use when I'm having a weak moment. :)

Congrats Amanda_R

:D:D We all seem to be doing the same thing (Im not pinning mine on the board ....I'm hoarding it).I'm going to buy a new Laptop with my savings......I Think:rolleyes: Money well earned at the end of all this!!;)

A laptop is certainly a good idea and quite a significant purchase too, I dread to think how many laptops I could have bought over the years

I've just started to write my list of things to spend my 'payrise' on and they all seem so silly and frivolous but then that's no worse than it going up in smoke - in fact, I'm quite looking forward to being silly and frivolous. :D

you know what? aint that just the hard truth? How many times have we grumbled about no decent pay rise, or no payrise at all and all this time we've had a payrise option available to us just by us being sensible about a choice in life we made years ago and hadn't returned to address until now?.

Well, i can tell you definitely that at first money was one of my major reasons for quitting, as was health benefits.. but since i've quit, i'm finding some really subtle differences to my general wellbeing which i never would have included on my initial reasons for quitting list.. confidence is one of them.. and you know what else i'm really starting to appreciate again?

Not having to make excuses to folk for me slipping off to feed my addiction .. not feeling inferior to folk who don't smoke because i was hopelessly hooked on nicotine. Yes i'm still hooked to a degree, i still get cravings at the moment, but nothing like i got on my first week in the slightest, and i feel very much in the realms of normal again at the moment.

Keep going, keep your visual incentive going for now, but you wait n see, you'll find other incentives will make themselves known over time, and you will relish and cherish every one of them as they are all good.

Maybe I spoke to soon because I've been like a bear with a sore head the past couple of hours.

I got angry because my hubbie left a bucket of dirty water lying around on the patio, my son was talking too loud on his x-box live and my daughter left some orange peel on the table in the front room ... And I just EXPLODED! Ridiculous!

Tell you what...that nicotine monster is pulling out all the stops to convince me to go and buy 'just a pack of 10'! But I won't, I'm writing this and staying strong - just got to work on this evil temper that I never had before

Well done Amanda - stay strong!

I am sure that your family will forgive you for a bit of shouting! :D Isn't it better for you to shout at them than not be there at all?

Keeping going! :D
