Well done on getting to week three. Stick with it and it will get easier. I had a huge wobble at the start of week 3 and day 15 was by far the worst I had but after that it got much much much easier.

Yip, it is the bl***y nicotine evilly whispering these things. Just you focus on how excited you are and how chuffed you'll be with youself on reaching one month. For me, this excitement has been part of my incentive in staying quit. You'll do it. x

the 'monster' is throwing a hissy fit basically :)

You've took away his toys, now he's showing all the signs of a 2 year old having a tantrum.

Ok so its not been getting its own way for a bit now, its tried stamping its feet, now its trying to get around you by making you think all is cool and one won't harm now will it?

Except that is exactly the lie.. the illusion that it has cast on you for years... ohh yes that one smoke will take all the problems away if you believe the illusion, but the reality is that one leads to two, and the two to.. ohhh go on then lets indulge ourselves and have another.. then another, then your back to square one and hating yourself for it too.

So no.. you do well to keep up the denial.. put that monster in its place.. and keep telling it no.

You're stronger than this, and this is your quit, and you are going to succeed.. the monster can jolly well put up with your stubbornness this time as you are not giving in to his stupid games.

Good luck, it will get better and the monsters voice will just get quieter.

Cheers folks

Actually I don't visualise it as a monster......................

I see it as a parasite - which is exactly what it is. You never see people wanting to hang on to fleas , lice , tapeworms etc.

Hope that helps someone

however you are visualising it, you have at least got it put in an inferior position to you. It's had your hoodwinked too long, clouding your focus, making you believe it is a cure for how you are feeling.. or that it gives a pick-me-up when you most need it.. when really? it was the opposite that was true.

When you start seeing that you can cope just fine without smoking at all, and that you can do alot of things even better without them, you start seeing just how much you've been conned by the addiction.. the parasite... and in my case, my monster (i call him GIT)

Good to have it seen in such a light though, we just don't play to its games.. we play to our own, and thats why we are going to beat it this time.

Hello!

Welcome to week 3 - many congratulations - you are doing brilliantly! I love the parasite image - I'm going to make one for myself then I can imagine a big stick and give it a good bashing when it pops up!:D

Re: the cravings. If your at home, go lie on your bed and put both hands on your chest so you can feel your breathing. Do some nice long deep breathing while all the time as you exhale, think that with each breathe out, you are getting rid of the bad from in you.. try and relax as you go with it.. heck if you fall asleep.. no harm done even.

I've found that doing this has helped on my worst nights at home and i've not had too many thank goodness.

I had some relaxation music which i used years ago to help combat some stressful times, and i play that too :)

You know tomorrow will be better, but right now your addiction is playing mind-games on you so any method you find works for you to cope with the mad craving is going to help.
