Mouth Ulcers

I am currently on day 8 and have 2 huge mouth ulcers. Is this common?

I never get mouth ulcers and am wondering if this is a symptom of quitting smoking?

On a positive note though... I feel good overall, my skin looks nice again, got back in the gym, lots more energy, had lots of drinks the other night and didnt even smoke! (and drinking is were i always fail)

Its good to be a non smoker!!

Sorry you have mouth ulcers but I'm afraid it's fairly common on here

Mouth ulcers

That is really funny that you mention the mouth ulcer thing. I have also been smoke free for a couple of weeks and my mouth is absolutely lined with them. I also have a terrible taste in my mouth and I also have insane acid reflux or indigestion. It's really nice to have a few things to take your mind off smoking, isn't it?

I've got the bad indigestion too and have had it with every quit.

As for the ulcers I had them really bad and gargled with corsodyl twice a day and they cleared really quickly. It also clears your smokers furry tongue too and leaves you with a nice pink healthy one. You can get it in any chemist or the supermarket.

Indigestion

Yeah I have quit a few times and the indigestion comes on strong at some point every time as well. I will try gargling with that stuff and maybe the ulcers will get better.

Confused

So you can get mouth ulcers from quitting smoking? I have never heard of that. What causes that? Do you get them when you stop CT or what if you have the patch on, will you still get them? I'm on day 5 and I haven't gotten them. This is intersting, can anyone say why we get them??? :confused:

I'm not sure but I think it might have something to do with the extra amount of saliva in your mouth when you quit smoking. I think your mouth sets up a natural defense against smoking and when you quit it isn't needed anymore. I'm just guessing but I too am interested if anyone has an explanation.
