Being doing just fine, until today........

Had an almighty row with OH last night. It was so upsetting that we still weren't speaking by the time I left the house this morning. I took my son to visit a castle. As I stood waiting to pay the entry fee, my son suddenly vomited all over himself and the floor. He can do this, without warning, due to a medical condition. It can be exacerbated through anxiety. I guess he was anxious about my OH and me arguing (whilst he didn't hear anything, he would have been aware of the atmosphere). Anyhow, a woman in the queue commented on my son vomiting, my son heard and he vomited again. One of these horrible situations where everyone stares, no-one helps and my son becomes increasingly distressed. I always have to stay strong and focused in these situations. Anyhow, normally I would NEED a fag after I've dealt with such a stressful incident. It's the first time I've had one of these incidents with my son since I've stopped smoking and I needed a fag today. I didn't have one, but was so close. Not a good day. :(

Hi Zolat,

Aw commiserations on your tough day! I guess we all have these. I can't speak from experience as I'm only on quit day 6 but I'm full of admiration for you for reaching the 20 day mark.

The way I think about it (and even in my 6 days a few stress points have come along that would normally have had me reaching for a cig) is that it's best to remember strongly why you don't want to smoke and also that smoking does nothing to help the situation it just kids you into thinking you feel better. It's a death sentence con trick so keep fighting.

I really hope that everything gets better with your OH and that your son is ok.

Hang in there and keep chalking up those days!

Hi Zolat :D

Sorry to hear you had a bad day and your son was poorly

No one ever seems to want to help when something like this happens

Make it up with your OH and then you'll feel better again

Well done not giving in although a fag wouldn't have made it better

Love

Kids, God bless em:rolleyes:

They seem to know just when to let you have it, but the huge positive here is that you got through this terrible situation and you didn't smoke that is amazing and you should be very proud of yourself.

I am sorry to hear that nobody helped you or your son out today, people can be really mean. I can promise you that next time i see a mum or dad having a hard time with a sick kid i wil help, (it might be you).

Hope you make it up with OH and have a nice evening with bath, chocolate, wine, cake, whatever floats your boat.

All my best wishes for a better tomorrow.

Thanks Writerchris, Marg, Chrissie and Bev for support yesterday. OH and I are just fine. Believe it or not, we started arguing over a sub-titled DVD! One of those arguments which snowballs into stupidity. Last time we argued like this was Dec. 30th last year (when we couldn't decide who to invite to our home for a wee party!!). Anyhow, having our first argument with me as a (relatively new) non-smoker was tantamount to him having to cope with me resembling a demented gremlin on speed! :D My son is pretty settled today. I think yesterday was too stressful for him. He's severely autistic and the place we went to was just too busy.

Anyhow, yesterday was worst day of my quit, but...........today is great!! :) I move up to Month 1 on the board tomorrow. The craves are few and far between and more and more manageable. You are all, of course, right, a fag wouldn't have helped. Having these "stressy" moments and not reaching for one is a good test of our willpower. :) x

p.s. After OH and I made up (;)), he announced that he's taking me on a child-free break to Skye in September!

Well done you.................I know what you are saying about the Gremlin ;)

Since going CT on saturday it is better if you just don't speak to me........had to come off the champix.............but it's 1 month on friday and I can't wait to get there. If I haven't exploded before that :D

Child free holiday did you say? I'm 49 can I come?

Hi Carol

Yip, I think all of us non-smokers should meet up for a child-free break in Skye! It would do us all good. Just imagine that smoke-free clean air......or better still the big breakfasts in the morning with tattie scones, eggs, bacon etc :D I can't wait. BTW, I read your post about coming off the Champix. I hope you're feeling better now. Just think, you're almost a month smoke-free. How brilliant is that??!! x:)
