Haha

Well they don't have a Dad's race at our kids school, or I would turn up in running spikes!

Despite smoking I was still quite fit (not healthy) but as I approach that magic 12 month mark I can really feel health benefits from quitting, in my ability to train harder, for longer and recover quicker.

Last week I was out on a football pitch with the martial arts people playing a game that was kind of full contact full contact netball with a 15lb medicine ball, 5 paces and pass if you are still standing, score by throwing it over the cross bar. It was fantastic, but seriously exhausting, I wouldn't have managed it a year ago.

I know one.

You can't pick up anymore some of your pretty colleges in "the smoking room" of the office where you're working. :(

Ive just read a string of posts and now understand why this section was set up.

In my opinion there are NO negative aspects to stopping smoking.

I quit over 1 and a half years ago and had restless nights, mild anxiety and weight gain. Why I was also diagnosed with hypothyroidism soon after I quit.

This in now ALL under control and I can honestly say that I have not felt this good since I was a teenager and that was in the early Eighties.

HOW WOULD I HAVE FELT IF I HAD CONTINUED SMOKING ????

I will thankfully never know.

Your body is healing. Give it time and you WILL reap the rewards.

Oooh and for the record, I won the Dads Race every year until I quit Smoking and then came 3rd :confused: How does that work?? Must have been the few extra pounds ;):D

When i at school, i was the 2nd fastest guy in the entire school, i ran like the wind, dinner time i used to spend with a stop watch trying to always beat my best times and loved it.

Tis funny but i wouldn't have ever thought about running again now, but i would like to be able to run about and not get out of breath which is starting to get better now.

Who knows, at some point i'll go for a jog and see how i go, but not just yet ;)
