Tonight was the hugh test. I stopped smoking on Monday but tonight I went out, as we usually do down to the pub and onto the club. I was very conscious of the fact that I had quit smoking and knew that this was the bench test. I was drinking and was well aware that desire to smoke was strong.
My friends were very supportive and went out of their way to not expose me to their smoke. This was the first time in years that I actually became aware for the smell of smoke, as my friends went outside and came back inside, the smell was really bad. I would not dare to comment on this to them but it brought home to me how noticeable smokers were.
Anyway I went for a night out, didn’t smoke and to date have been smoke free for five days. I certainly would not declare myself a non smoker but I made it though the evening, and enjoyed it without the aid of a cigarette.
If I can do this so can this so can anybody else who is finding it difficult to stop, come on guys give it up.
Regards Stateofgrace

Well done am sooo proud of you, it is a scary thought tho....having a drink and not being able to smoke and it's a huge step for us when we can do it...so a big WELL DONE you should be so proud of yourself xx
Hi Stateofgrace, a huge well done on tackling craves while out and drinking, so early in a quit it can be a huge test, but YOU HAVE PASSED! take one step at a time and you will confident enough to announce yourself as a non smoker! (your a non smoker from when you put out your last cig)
I have been dreading this night all week but it actually went ok. I guess since I had psyched myself up for it I was prepared for what was to come, so I was on guard all the time.
Hopefully, with time, I can drop my guard and simply relax and enjoy the evening for what it is, a night out with friends.
Well done for not starting the 'chain' and resisting. I always have a couple of beers on a Friday and decided to test myself last nite and like you I did it! - Quit Monday and today is day 6. Keep it up and well done.
Well done on your five (six) days smoke free stateofgrace, soon be a week, then, who knows. Curious though about your username. Marg said Grace. Does it come from someone saying "Look at the state of Grace" after a night on the town perhaps? David
we're having toad on the hole and veggies, you want to come as well
Love to Marg, busy day though, got to go into town soon for a load of bingo prizes, take them to the centre, go and try to do a job on a mates Pc, then to Cleethorpes to see some friends. Home about 6.15 to some lovely fresh fried fish and chips, my wife is the best frier in town. David xxx
