The difference is....

...everyone is different. I asked many times ex-smokers what they recommended and although some of the advice was well used, I think a lot of it is down to who you are as a person. Everyone is different and has a different make-up, some have determination and drive, others need a little push here and there. For example, my dad gave up after 40 years and said "it was easy, I just decided enough was enough and that was that, I didn't look back and cold turkey was easy". I tried and I failed miserably after Day 2. I took it that obviously it was mind over matter and that is how my dad did it, it didn't work for me. I since found out he gave up because my first niece was born and he wanted to be a fit and active grandfather. So, some years later, I found out he had a purpose, a goal and that is why it was easy for him. I guess now I understood that, I set my own. I wanted to be a mother in the future and not smoke in front of my children, nor my niece or nephew, Step 1 complete. I wanted money to buy things quicker that I wanted and needed, not save for month after month and by the time I got it, it was out of stock, Step 2 complete. I wanted to get fit and active, I went swimming twice a week, Step 3 completed. You have to set your own goals, no-one else can tell you from their experiences. It's about you and what you want to achieve out of it....:D

That's right what you've just said Kaz, we do all want it for lots of different reasons, but, we have to want it enough. I started my quit on patches ( Clinic) I went on a Thursday and got my patches the same day, in my head though I wasn't ready for it. Left it till after the weekend, and I can assure you in those four days I bloody well got myself ready. I can't make promises to anyone about not smoking again, but at the moment I'd rather be gelded lol. David
