Made it to month 1 yesterday. Thanks for all the help. This site and others have made me much better informed about what to expect.
For me, quitting continues to get, albeit veryslowly, easier. I think this because, looking back to when I did something similar a week earlier, the 'smoke related feelings' seemed, at least according to my memory, to have been a little stronger and more forceful. The rate of change is surprisingly slow for me. Would definitely be hopelessly adddicted again if I had a puff, so I won't.
Funny thing I noticed this week about the smell of fags - I love it again, and the smell has changed. Smoke now smells the same as when I was a kid and used to visit my Gran's house - I was always very happy there so maybe this is an association thing ?? As a smoker, the smell became very different.

Another wierd side effect on my vision...have developed 'bird of prey style eyesite'. Seem to have a new ability to spot alight ciggies in my peripheral vision, stunningly from around 50 metres, and focus my eyes in with complete vision clarity and total memory recall afterwards. Normally, I would never notice anything that far away as strongly as that. I don't want one, but boy do I notice them. Worrying or what ?

Funny that a friend of mine who stopped a few years ago said similar thing, reminded her of happy days when she was a child with her grand parents. Yet when she was smoking it smelt totally different.
Its definitely getting easier (though not yet soo easy:mad:), and I'm thinking about fags alot less.
Contrary to what I wrote before, the smell bugs me now....seems to stimulate a physical reaction in the nostrils that lasts for a day or so. (my darling wife still smokes, so I occasionally get a bit in my nose when chatting to her outside).
BTW - I bought a catapult and have been using it outside instead of smoking - getting quite good at hitting the target. Definitely recommend a catapult as a new hobby....keeps the fingers busy and need to breath deeply before taking a shot. !

That did make me laugh My hubby still smokes & although I no longer want to smell as disgusting as I once did I do I am afraid enjoy the smell of him having a cigarette at the time (But not after). Guess this means I still have a way to go yet. Gaynor. xxxx
I'm glad you're finding it easier now and thinking about fags less often and it will get less and less as you go on until one day you'll realise hey I haven't thought about fags for ages
Well done on your 6 week quit
Hi Gaynor
Enjoying the smell of a fag is natural just don't think about having one OK
