Hi d2472, and welcome to the forum. This is a great place to come with questions about quitting or just to rant and rave. I quit CT on Jan 18, 2009.
It was a lot easier than I thought. Smoked 30 a day for 35 years! What a waste of health, money, and time! The patches contain nicotine. After your last cig and after 72 hours of not smoking, the nicotine should be out of your system. Can't see much sense in using patches and putting nicotine back in your body. At the bottom of this post I have 3 different links that can help you with your quit. Learning about nicotine addiction and what to expect from quitting is important and these links help with that. Any way post often and let us know how you are doing. Just remember you are choosing not to smoke, you are not giving anything up! Keep going!
welcome and great job so far..... the toughest part over! I agree with Jody, no sense going back to nicotine now...... for some giving up smoking is easy for many it is hard. It was very hard for me but I am in my 5th week. The first couple of weeks were challenging but it gets easier so just hang in there for a bit longer.... I have a 5 year old and not smoking has been a gift for me and her..... wish I had had the guts to give it up sooner. Hang in there..... I was a 'confirmed' smoker and I still get a few moments here and there but overall I am a happy non-smoker. Keep going.... good luck
Well done on going 4 days C T the Nicotine is out of your system now and you're more than 1/2 way through the first and worst week, it will soon get easier for you
Like you I feel it would be taking a backward step as you would be putting nicotine back into your body as Jody and Bella blue say, but have a read of this it may help you
Welcome to the forum and well done on the decision to quit possibly one of the most important you will ever make and you will be losing nothing but you will regain control of your life and that has to be good

Hi, D2472. Congratualtion on completing day 6. Almost 1 week gone! You are well on your way. It gets easier from now on, not to say there won't be some bad days, but the good outweight the bad! Keep going!
You're on day 7 now good having got that first and worst week done things will start to get better for you although you will still have some bad days to cope with but even they will get easier to cope with just hang in there
