Came across the site yesterday and this is my first post so please be gentle with me!
Just about to start day 3 (c/t)...
Reading posts from this and other sites has only served to strengthen my resolve.
I was a regular smoker for over 33 years (I had my first smoke at about 9 and became a "regular" smoker at around 12, hanging around the bike sheds and local parks, spending my dinner money and any other income on fags!)
I've been hand rolling since 1986 (approx 100g per week)
I've been telling myself that I would quit "sometime" for years now, but never really got around to it!
For some reason, I woke up last Sunday morning and after I had my usual morning cough up and first smoke; I just thought this is disgusting and I am sick to death of doing it and feeling like my lungs only half work.
Haven't had a smoke since (10.00 am 8/3/09) and I have chucked out pretty much everything to do with smoking.
I don't seem to be experiencing serious cravings, but this maybe due to the fact that I have had a heavy cold for just over a week now. I feel that I am more likely to just unconsciously wander out the back and light up through force of habit (which is why I binned everything) than to succumb to any cravings. Which feels sort of odd.
Not getting much sleep of late and I do seem to be getting regular headaches, but perhaps this is quite normal...
