Thursdays the day...

that I give up for good!! Have given up in the past during pregnancies etc but I guess I found it easy because I knew I could go back to smoking. This time I don't want to ever go back. However whilst I'm really determined I also have this real feeling of fear, like 'what am I going to do without it?' Stupid cos I can think of heaps more productive things to do with my time. Did anyone else feel like this?

Hi Sara

Good luck for thursday. I was really excited about stopping as i really wanted to do it, but i have to admit to having some real bad panic like attacks during the first month, and these i put down to missing my so called friend the white stick and feeling like i couldnt go on without it....lol daft i know but that nico demon does some weird things to our logical thinking.

I'm happy to say that im now approaching the end of month 2 and those feelings have all gone.

Try to read as much as you can and im sure with the support and advise you will get on here you will do it hun,

Good Luck

Dee

Hi Sara and well done on your decision to stop.

Before I stopped I read a lot of the information on the links provided here on peoples posts, ie. whyquit etc. Then I found myself thinking about a lot of the information when I was smoking, didn't make me feel very clever.

By the time the Friday (that was my day) came, like Denise says, I was quite excited about it.

Things can be panicy and emotional at times, but people are there to help and support you and you must be honest with them about how you feel, because they really will not have any idea. Cry and hug, it doesn't last for long, there's no pain, just irritation.

I feel more relaxed now, not having to pop outside for a fix between jobs, not worrying if the children will see me sneaking out.

Over the next couple of days look at the people standing outside their offices, the supermarket etc. having their cigarettes, you won't find many of them smiling, their just getting their nicotine fix. Do you really want to be like them. When you have a cigarette, think about how it feels, was it really that special, do you feel different, better, or is it just a matter of feeding the nicodemon. You will be amazed at how many cigarettes you don't actually remember having, and how many you actually enjoy. I think I narrowed it down to 1, out of 20 a day.

As every day goes by being a non-smoker, it feels better and better. Go for it, you've nothing to lose!

The thought of stopping smoking is far worse than doing it!!! Don't let it play on your mind-you are not losing anything by stopping smoking you are gaining your freedom from the bloody awful, unsociable, costly, smelly, unhealthy habit

good look in your fight for freedom xxxx
