I know this probably should be off topic - but can I ask tha you support me with the food thing.
I have a feeling this will be a biggie emotionally. I've kept it buried for 20 years I think, so working through it is going to give me as many ups and downs as the smokes.
I don't expect you to understand - but I know you ALL understand an irrational craving it's just for something else. My only problem is I need to find the educational material.
If I take the same approach to food as nicoteen surely I can do it?
Not sure how this will work but lets see eh?
What would I do without you all :o:confused:

Yep, you got it
Recently I've been banging on about Allen Carr and here I am at it again
I will try to help you with this if I can I am no expert but when I want to loose weight and I do at the moment the first thimg I do is cut out sweets, crisps, biscuits and cakes and go back to my weight watcher books I also had a quick look on Amazon they have books on this including at least one by Allen Carr may even get myself one yet and am sure others will want to help
Try weight training. This will allow you to eat more but also burn more calories.
I believe from other posts that you do some cardio training but this alone will not help with the weight issues, believe me i have tried the cardio route (Martial Arts between 3 and 5 times a week, which i still do) but it didn't really have an effect on weight, however after a very short time weight training the difference is amazing.
(And you WON'T get "all muscley" (sp) That takes years !!!)
Google "stronglifts 5 x 5" which is a great beginner programme and the site has some great information on nutrition and diet as well.
I really feel for you-i havent got a weight/food bad relationship, but i have a good friend who does and i know, how much it effects her on a daily basis.
Its a difficult one isnt it? with stopping smoking you just stop, but with cutting food intake that is more difficult than people think.
You need to determine what your triggers are first of all-boredom? stress? family? routine? when you have identified those triggers then you can put actions into place-food substitutes-swap crisps for seeds, fruit, carrots and other munchies.
Look at your portion sizes, put your food on a smaller plate, make sure there are at least 3 different colours on your plate of food (ie green-veg, white-chicken, reds tomatos/carrots). Also green tea with peppermint helps clean out the digestive system
It is important not to go down the faddy diet thing-they only work short term, this is more like a lifestyle change-proportioned meals and awareness, with 30mins cardiac a day.
I'm no expert-however i do have a great interest in this field-by the way my friend lost 7 stone 6 years ago by taking the lifestyle change-and feels great!! and she looks great!!!
Thanks Everyone - without wanting to sound like a shrink, I have got further than before now because I've admitted there is a problem.
Can only go up from here....
I take on board everything you said but it's been said before - I just need to sort my head out first.
I will try the AC weight loss book to see if that helps.
Shabba your the second person this week to mention green tea and I've not tried that before.....
I do have a medical dietition who I'm seeing tomorrow for my monthly visit. She monitors my food diary and watches how it affects blood sugar and other factors, then tweaks theplan slightly until the theory is I get a fully tailored eating plan to live my life by.
I have had my fill of diet plans - I've done them all, GI, Weight Watchers, Slimming World etc etc. I was eating just 900 calories and working out daily - yet still gaining weight in the summer. No-one could tell me why. That is why I am now referred to the dietition through my GP.
Unfortunately when I got ill it all took a backseat for a while. But now I'm back up to speed I hope to see an improvement
