Finally stopping

I've spent the last couple of weeks cutting down my smoking by half which wasn't very easy but I did it

Now decided that with effect from 4am on 11th Feb 2009, (When I smoked my LAST cigarette!) no more smoking for me, now gone over 14 hours without a cigarette, never gone this long before and so far it hasn't been too bad, get the urge for a cigarette every so often but I either find something to do or try ignoring the urge.

I'm not using any nicotine subs. prefer cold turkey, get it all out of my system in one foul swoop, be free of nicotine for the first time since I was 15.

What finally decided me was reading whyquit.com/whyquit/A_Sympt...

Until reading that I didn't realise just how much nicotine takes over our bodies and changes so much of its functioning.

Hi, Must Stop! Good for you on deciding to quit. Try reading quitsmokingonline.co.uk. This sight makes a lot of sense. It's a long read but well worth it. Good luck on your quit. I'm sure it will be fine. It's really not as bad as we all think it will be. Just Hang In There! Don't take a puff!!

Quit: Jan. 18, 2009

Fantastic news Must Stop - we're all there with you in spirit! Keeping busy is absolutely the best thing you can do - have to say my house has never been so clean as in the last three weeks since I stopped smoking ;)

And if you ever feel the going getting a little tough - get on here and let us know! It's made the world of difference for me - still can't quite believe I'm a non-smoker! Makes me very, very smiley! :D

Welcome MustStop!

This forum is great for getting advice or for having a rant! There are lots of good links to sites to help you too. Education really is the key - know what to expect then you can be prepared for it.

Good luck - and if you need any more sites, check out youtube and search for 'giving up smoking' - there are some pretty gruesome videos guaranteed to help you quit!
