aaaahh, the old duplicate thread trick....

Without sounding too patronizing the real guts of quitting, for me, was like this…

You stop, suffer a weekend of feeling niggled, a week or two of flu like feelings and then a weird feeling like something's missing out of your life for a few months as you get to grips with thinking you should be doing something else and it turns out it's the smoking you're missing.

You’re on day 4 and feeling low.

You’re physically repairing your body which in some ways didn’t actually feel broken.

You’re also subconsciously looking for that excuse that allows you to smoke again without taking any blame.

Stay strong, distract yourself, read extensively and to the point where you don’t think you could despise your habit more.

Day 5 will arrive and before you know it week 1 will have ended.

:)

Hi Angela

Sorry to hear you are finding it difficult at the moment, just keep reminding yourself on the reasons why? i found it helpful to put a reason list up on my dressing table to remind me, also think and even write a list on the consequences if you carry on smoking and the social exclusion you will feel.

It does help, it does get easier and it does feel great later down the line

stay strong and you will be free!!

Angela, it does get better. I'm on day seven now and still craving.

Here's what helps keep me on track (although it doesn't necessarily lift my spirits): I look up smoker's lungs on the internet. Then I picture what mine must look like. Then I realize: no wonder I feel down. Then I picture my lungs pink and happy, eventually.

It does get lonely and irritating but it will pass.

Not what you're looking for?
