You know the score.... it's Friday night, I had a glass of red wine (or 3) to chill out and now every nerve ending is screaming at me to smoke. The bad thing is that I am not even with any smokers! I am not going to, but I am finding it pretty bloody hard. Does anyone else find this with alcohol? cheers me dears xxxx

Cor blimey ..... is it me?
Hi
Alcohol and ciggys go together very well, hence why i have kept away from alcohol, also alcohol is very good at lowering your resistance to fight of any craves should they come wandering into your head.
Try not to have to many and if you do, just be very careful hun.
Have a great weekend
Denise
xx
Have had a few glasses tonight, and about 3 very brief "silent screams" but each passed in a nano second and one deep breath. They get further and further apart. Didn't want a fag at all this week, and are amazingly doable. Every time it happens it makes me stronger, couldn't have thought about drinking first week and now am far too comfortable with it! Keep it up, I feel great!
Thank you SOOOO much for your quick replies, I am taking PLENTIFUL deep breaths, making a note not to drink red wine (or coffee after what BB said) on any further possible trigger days, and....... I needed something else for my hands, so I am currently making jewellery with my paper-clip collection. So far, I have straightened 52 paper clips, then decided that they didn't look right, so bent them back into shape. I am still contemplating the next move.....!
But I do have a message for anyone afraid of quitting... don't worry... it doesn't make you ga ga!! trust me......
Thanks chaps for your advice..... you have dragged me over another difficult bit. I appreciate that A LOT xx
P.S. Kipper.... you are where I want to be - keep being inspirational! x
Bollocks, I keep forgetting to be polite!
P.P.S you all have a bloody brilliant (and wonderfully liberating smoke-free) weekend too....... x
Morning DM
Hope your heads not to bad this morning HEHE. Glad you stayed smoke free last night things will get easyer as time gose on.xxxxxxx
Alcohol and ciggies go together like strawberries and cream so try and keep away from booze for a while {lots of}
it will get easier with me it was coffee so made every other cup either water or fruit tea
maybe you could try something similar with wine maybe alternate with a coke or something just to break the automatic link in your mind all the best
I still haven't had a drink since I quit, that is going to be another hurdle I'll be facing next weekend .

You are all a lot braver than me... I was in month 3 before I had more than a single drink in a session!
Looking back, that was probably very over cautious though
Well done to all of you.... the January quitters are doing great (I can't bring myself to call you a bunch of Bar Stewards). You will be inspiring the next round of newbies between you!
Congrats.
Hello Linda,
Thanks for asking, and I would be lying if I said that my head wasn't pounding this morning. And my mouth was like the bottom of a bird's cage.
However............. despite the fact that my friends were smoking all night..... I didn't have a single one. Hurray! I was really chuffed when one of them came up and said "out of all the bastards to give up smoking, I didn't think it would be you". How cool is that?
This morning, I celebrated by bowing to myself in the mirror, flourishing my wrist, and giving myself encores (ummm.. probably too easily amused!).
Bollocks, I keep forgetting to be polite!
ROFL! That cheered me up so much! THANK YOU!
Good job on not caving in around our good friend Al, and well done on cultivating a healthy(?) hangover. Now you know you can get on the lash without having a smoke.
And yes, good luck to the next round of nubs
