Nice one id13, if you keep those reasons in your head you will see this through with very few problems :):)

Not particularly attractive for a "lady" (LOL) but previous to quitting, my DH often had to go and sleep in the spare room because he couldn't sleep with me snoring!!!:o It has, I am pleased to say, stopped snoring!!:D

Well done for identifying all the reasons you want to quit, great motivators!

Well, I don't smoke myself but my girlfriend does and is trying to quit and I can totally agree with number 7.

Hello Bepo12 welcome to the forum,

I assume you ahe joined to find out how to best support your girlfriend in her attempt to quit.

How is she doing and how long has she been quit?

Also, (Ive put this as clearly you are thinking about having a baby), smoking actually makes it harder to get pregnant. So you doing the right thing!

My eldest is now at the age where he knows about smoking, and there nothing worse than having a kid ask you "why are you smoking, do you know your going to die". You dont want o be in that position.

Also, picked him up from school the other day and saw a kid from his class, with a pen in her mouth pretending to smoke, she was met at the gates by her dad with a fag hanging out of his mouth - that is not a pretty sight!

Aye you can only kid yourself but you cant kid a kid.

AS Id previsouly not smoked, I was horrifed when my 7 year old caught me red handed out the garden. A quick

"get to bed"

just wasnt good enough.

Easier to give up than to try and justify it and look them in the eyes

These are the reasons I put on my Quitmeter:

I don't want to be an addict

I want to take control

I hate feeling desperate to smoke

My kids hate me smoking

I want to be free

I know I am stronger than my addiction

I would also now add that I don't ever want to have to go through those first few difficult days/weeks again.

Most important thing that helped me quit:

I will NOT be a life long smoker. I refuse to be. And the way i see it, it's a whole lot easier to quit NOW then it will be a year from now.

So might as well do it sooner, than later
