Hi I'm Tasha, I'm 21 and have been smoking 10 years.

Feel alittle like I'm in AA meeting, sorry if that offends anyone, but it does.

However quitting for me has been quite hard, I have actually lost friends over it.

The cravings however aren't actually that bad to be honest, I have been chewing loads of chewing gum and trying to avoid places and behaviour that I assosiate with smoking.

Healthwise, well, I'm coughing up very disgusting stuff, but I feel so much better for it, less sleepy and more alert.

Hi Tasha

Welcome to the forum.

Well done on quitting.

If friends haven't supported you and you've lost them its time to question if they were true friends in the 1st place. If they are they'll be back in time.

Personally I like the AA comparison as nicotine is an addictive drug just like alcohol or hard drugs and we are here to break that addiction.

Sounds like you have thought things through about avoiding difficult situations.

If you need anything just shout.

Cheers

Nic

sounds like you have it beat. Well done.

just don't get too complacent in your first few weeks but at the same time don't "think it" harder than it actually is..:D

You are doing great. Keep it up and keep posting.

hi Tash,

want to say the same as all the others but just add that after a few days its best to start confronting the "danger" places/situations - the sooner you can tick another trigger off the list of things to deal with, the happier and more confident you become...

my biggest thrill was going to the supermarket after about 4days and not even registering the cigarette counter!! Sad but true!!
