No more NRT

Went to chemist yesterday to get some more Nicotine Chewing gum and was told that was my last one on prescription but today got up and thought I would have a day without it. So far so good, have been chewing Airwaves instead. I have been quit for 13 weeks, the first two were cold turkey and the remainder 11 weeks have been NRT until today.

Just to say a massive big thankyou to everyone on this site who has given me the extra energy to continue with this quit when I could've quite easily have caved in.

PS. John don't go, rise above these morons who continue to TRY and spoil the forum for everybody else, you are well respected by the real quitters that you have helped by your posts and your read read read threads.

congratulations on making it this far, personally I cannot chew gum (it makes me hungary) but know several people who are addicted to both the inhalator and the lozenges, in my opinion (and it is only my opinion) I would rather chew anything then smoke. You have done a grand job giving up the NTR so soon but remember there is no shame should in the future you be left with no alternative but to chew the gum - rather this then to smoke, and I hit a real real bad patch around the 12 week mark

I have been quit for 4 Months, 1 Week, 5 Days, 19 hours, 26 minutes and 49 seconds (133 days). I have saved £1,476.77 by not smoking 6,690 cigarettes. I have saved 3 Weeks, 2 Days, 5 hours and 30 minutes of my life. My Quit Date: 06/02/2008 21:17

  • Well done Della! :)

    I can't believe you've been stopped for 13 weeks already - that's marvellous! :)

I've a feeling you won't be needing any more NRT :)

  • Well done della your doing fab 72 hours and all the nic is gone so another 2 days and your home free. Linda xxxx

  • Lovin' the Peas on Earth line CW. Cool Wicked! Makes me smile whenever I catch it.

At the end of my sig, I have the Secombe/Chisolm convo as I find it funny and it always brings a smile to my face when I read it (still!). Yeah I'm easily pleased!

Great that you're dropping the nrt now Della. I'm sure the last stage of kicking nasty 'nic out of your life will go great! Its really not that bad (says I!). Just be prepared for a few pangs and what not and you're on your way! As Sue said, if you do ever hit hard times and feel like you are about to have a fag, then grab the gum instead!! The gum is by far better than the cigs. Great job Della :)

  • Thankyou everyone for you support. Last night I worked and there were a lot of people smoking and the smoke was wafting past my nose, I nearly caved in and had a piece of gum but didn't and not one today however, I have found a replacement, it is still chewing gum but raspberry infusions!!!

I have still got 120 pieces in my kitchen drawer along with a half a packet of ciggies left over from my quit so if the need arises, I will have a chewing gum rather than the other!

Hope everyone has a good weekend and stays smoke free.:D

  • Hi John, you do make me giggle sometimes!!!!

Well 3 months ago (I sound like goldilocks)! lol. I had my usual ciggie after a rather heavy night of drinking and it made me feel sick so I didn't smoke that day then the next day got up hangover free and tried to have another cigie but still my body didn't want it as it made me feel sick so by now I had down 2 days, then 3, then 4 etc etc so I didn't plan to quit so still had a packet in the drawer and there they will stay.

My kitchen drawers make me laugh 1 has my nrt in the other next to it has half packet of ciggies, some rizlas and some very old tobacco!

After a year am going to have a little ceromony and either set them alight or put some water over them but until that date comes the drawer is where they will stay!;)
