Quitting Today.

Hi there.

My name is Chris. Im 17 and have been smoking for 3 years.

I feel its now time to quit before I do some serious damage to myself. And, although I can afford it because I work, I really don't want to afford it any more.

I think its horrible and I hate being short of breath and out of pocket.

Went with the patches, felt a bit rough first thing, but it soon wore off.

I really hope to bin the fags for good :D

Hi John,

Thank you for the support!

Did that calculation and it equates to roughly £25000!

(And thats only the 10 a day I smoked) which would have probably gradually become higher!

Great way to see what it can do to your pocket.

Is it worth paying £25000 over decades just to kill yourself?

I think not!

Ill keep you posted and again...

Thanks :D

Welcome ChrissyBoy and congrats for deciding to quit smoking! ...man you are so young, quitting now means you get to have your entire life back, aww that alone sounds so good, you just are not allowed to ever give in can you hear me?? :p Seriously, you just made the best decision of your entire life and I truly admire you :)

Hi Chris,

Well done on your decision to quit. You are lucky that you are young enough to reverse any damage those cigarettes have already done to your body! :)

Just keep doing the calculations John has set you - that'll keep you so busy you won't have time to think about cigarettes taraaaaaaaaaaa! :D:p

Only joking John, well done on pointing that out to Chris.

btw/ are you an accountant or a bookmaker? lol :p

Welcome Chris, and a smart move too.

I posted this in another thread the other day....

It’s a horrible nasty product isn’t it.? I smoked for 25 years and I now feel bitter and twisted that so much of my life has been spent with one of them in my mouth. I would so love to turn back those 25 years and do it without tobacco. Not a single one of those 228,125 cigarettes did anything for me and I have to live with that everyday.

You sort of have the chance to do what I couldn't.

It would be nice to think you could grab it with both hands and avoid those quarter of a million wasted fags.

Don't be here saying what I am when you're 43..!

;)

Well done Chris

You have made two great decisions so far !

Number one , is to give away the weed.

Number two was to come here :)

Be proud and never doubt, be proud to stop while you can remember what life was like before Nicotine.

I was addicted to the drug Nicotine for 35 years, I am proud to say that I am on the road to making it this time.

I have been quit for 4 Days, 3 hours, 18 minutes and 27 seconds (4 days). I have saved £19.85 by not smoking 82 cigarettes. I have saved 6 hours and 50 minutes of my life. My Quit Date: 16/05/2008 17:17

Baby Steps :D

Good for you Chris. I am on day eight and feeling great. Keep the quit and you will feel better day by day. I wish I had even thought about quitting at 17. It has to be the best decision a smoker makes.
