Everyone, please post your quit song and some of the lyrics to it.

here's mine:

Mariah Carey:

LOL - it would be a miracle if I got through this:

There can be miracles

(Miracles)

When you believe

(Lord, when you believe)

Though hope is frail

(Though hope is frail)

It's hard to kill

(Hard to kill, Ohhh)

Who know what miracles, you can achieve

When you believe, somehow you will(somehow, somehow, somehow)

somehow you will

You will when you believe

You will when you

You will when you believe

Just believe...in your heart

Just believe

You will when you believeeeeeeeeeee

Mine is Gloria Gaynor - I Will Survive:D:p:D:p

At first I was afraid

I was petrified

Kept thinking I could never live

Without you by my side

But then I spent so many nights

Thinking how you did me wrong

And I grew strong

And I learned how to get along

And so you're back

From outer space

I just walked in to find you here

With that sad look upon your face

I should have changed that stupid lock

I should have made you leave your key

If I've have known for just one second

You'd be back to bother me

Go on now go

Walk out the door

Just turn around now

'Cause you're not welcome anymore

Weren't you the one who tried to break me with goodbye

Did you think I'd crumble?

Did you think I'd lay down and die?

Oh no, not I

I will survive

Oh, as long as I know how to love

I know I'll stay alive

I've got all my life to live

I've got all my love to give

And I'll survive

I will survive, hey hey

It took all the strength I had

Not to fall apart

Kept trying hard to mend

The pieces of my broken heart

And I spent oh so many nights

Just feeling sorry for myself

I used to cry

But now I hold my head up high

And you see me

Somebody new

I'm not that chained up little person

Still in love with you

And so you felt like dropping in

And just expect me to be free

But now I'm saving all my loving

For someone who's loving me

Go on now go

Walk out the door

Just turn around now

'Cause you're not welcome anymore

Weren't you the one who tried to break me with goodbye

Did you think I'd crumble?

Did you think I'd lay down and die?

Oh no, not I

I will survive

Oh, as long as I know how to love

I know I'll stay alive

I've got all my life to live

I've got all my love to give

And I'll survive

I will survive, oh

Mine bizarrely is:

With tuppence for paper and strings,

you can have your own set of wings.

With your feet on the ground,

you're a bird in flight!

With your fist holding tight,

to the string of your kite!

Let's go fly a kite

Up to the highest height

Let's go fly a kite

And send it soaring

Up through the atmosphere

Up where the air is clear

Oh, let's go fly a kite!

When you send it flying up there,

all at once your lighter than air!

You can dance on the breeze,

over 'ouses and trees!

With your fist 'olding tight,

to the string your kite!

Let's go fly a kite

Up to the highest height

Let's go fly a kite

And send it soaring

Up through the atmosphere

Up where the air is clear

Oh, let's go fly a kite!

Quit song? Quit song?

Nobody told me I needed a quit song

*thinks furiously*

When Ol' Nic whispers in my ear I sometimes do the William Tell Overture with my own lyrics. It goes like this.......

"Ef off,Ef off,Ef off,Ef off,

Ef off,Ef off,Ef off,Ef off,

Ef off,Ef off,Ef off,Ef off,

Ef off, (hold that note)

Just EFF OFF!!!!!!"

Lamb - Gorecki

If I should die this very moment

I wouldn't fear

For I've never known completeness

Like being here

Wrapped in the warmth of you

Loving every breath of you

Still in my heart this moment

Or it might burst

Could we stay right here

Until the end of time until the earth stops turning

Wanna love you until the seas run dry

I've found the one I've waited for

All this time I've loved you

And never known your face

All this time I've missed you

And searched this human race

Here is true peace

Here my heart knows calm

Safe in your soul

Bathed in your sighs

Wanna stay right here

Until the end of time

'Til the earth stops turning

Gonna love you until the seas run dry

I've found the one I've waited for

The one I've waited for

All I've known

All I've done

All I've felt was leading to this

All I've known

All I've done

All I've felt was leading to this

Wanna stay right here

'Til the end of time 'till the earth stops turning

I'm gonna love you till the seas run dry

I've found the one I've waited for

The one I've waited for

The one I've waited for

Wanna stay right here

'Til the end of time 'till the earth stops turning

I'm gonna love you till the seas run dry

I've found the one I've waited for

The one I've waited for

The one I've waited for

I think I mentioned this in another thread a few days ago.

It's not really my quitting song, but I can't get it out of my brain at present.

I have the Sweeney Todd soundtrack on a loop on my iPod and I always sing along with "Pirelli's Magical Elixir" , especially these words:

'Twas Pirelli's

Miracle elixir

That's what did the trick, sir,

True, sir, true.

Was it quick, sir?

Did it in a tick, sir,

Just like an elixir

Ought to do!

while I wish there was a miracle elixir to stop smoking...

allmusicals.com/lyrics/swee...

I smoked my last cigarette 2 Weeks, 1 Day, 7 hours and 6 minutes ago. I have saved £124.14 by not smoking 535 cigarettes. I have saved 1 Day, 20 hours and 35 minutes of my life.

Weak by Skunk Anansie has actually popped into my head a few times in weak moments but the words don't fit (much)

Lost in time I cant count the words

I said when I thought they went unheard

All of those harsh thoughts so unkind

cos I wanted you

And now I sit here Im all alone

So here sits a bloody mess, tears fly home

A circle of angels, deep in war

cos I wanted you

Weak as I am, no tears for you

Weak as I am, no tears for you

Deep as I am, Im no ones fool

Weak as I am

So what am I now Im love last home

Im all of the soft words I once owned

If I opened my he heart, thered be no space for air

cos I wanted you

Weak as I am, no tears for you

Weak as I am, no tears for you

Deep as I am, Im no ones fool

Weak as I am

In this tainted soul

In this weak young heart

Am I too much for you

In this tainted soul

In this weak young heart

Am I too much for you

In this tainted soul

In this weak young heart

Am I too much for you

Weak as I am

Weak as I am

Weak as I am

Weak as I am, am, am

Weak as I am

Am I to much for you

Weak as I am

Am I to much for you

Weak as I am

Am I to much for you

Weak as I am

Am I to much for you

Weak as I am

I'm gonna sing the song by OneMoreTry though.... love it!

Mine is AFI... Carcinogen Crush. Was the song i was listening to during my last smoke.

AFI - Carcinogen Crush

Speechless

Read the words between your lines

In isolation

Silence separates of what design?

I heard you speak

Words I know you didn’t write

But I believe you, believe them

'Cause you spoke them again in my dreams last night

I swear to you I’m not the one

I swear so I’ll become

Your only desire

Take a bow

You’ve performed exquisitely

Though the millions scream

I know you’ll see

Each subtlety’s understood by me

I

I would be as devout

As the high school sweetheart

That I never had, I s-s-s-s-s-s-swear!

I swear to you I’m not the one

I swear so I’ll become

Your only

So if you are confined to me

I swear that you will be

So lonely (dreaming)

Airs of grace, your airs of grace will fill me

Airs of grace, your airs of grace will fill me

Airs of grace, your airs of grace will fill me

Airs of grace, your airs of grace just kill me

Oh!

I swear to you, I’m not the one

I swear so I’ll become

Your only

So if you are confined to me

I swear you will be

So lonely (dream-like)

Dream-like

Dream-like

LOL - My no smoking clinic told me to sing a song if you got a craving as you can't think and sing at the same time.

Give it a try...

AWWWW, RIGHT!!!!!! Now I'm all embarrassed :o

However, this morning when I got off the train, I had as usual, to run the gauntlet of smokers just outside the train station. This set me off thinking about this thread and I furiously made my brain think of a song - any song - to which I knew the words.

Well, here goes....

Give me oil in my lamp keep it burnin'

Give me oil in my lamp I pray....Hallelujah!

Give me oil in my lamp keep it burnin'

Keep it burnin' til the break of day.

Chorus:

sing Hosanna sing Hosanna sing Hosanna

to the King of Kings.

sing Hosanna sing Hosanna sing Hosanna

to the King of Kings.

Give me love in my heart, keep me serving

Give me love in my heart I pray (hallelujah!)

Give me love in my heart, keep me serving

Keep me serving 'til the break of day

Do not ask where that came from - I just remembered it from Sunday School (many moons ago) But I'll tell you what, it made me smile :) and kept my mind well away from cigarettes so it is now officially my quit song!!!!

Yep, excellent thread. I've had a song I've associated with quitting since the beginning. It does sound weird but on hearing it it always cheered me up during the early days.

My song is Jungle Love by The Steve Miller Band. It may be best recognised as the theme tune on one of the seasons of Everybody Loves Raymond!

I met you on somebodys island

You thought you had known me before

I brought you a crate of papaya

They waited all night by your door

You probably wouldnt remember

I probably couldnt forget

Jungle love in the surf in the pouring rain

Everythings better when wet

Jungle love its drivin me mad

Its makin me crazy

Jungle love its drivin me mad

Its makin me crazy

But lately you live in the jungle

I never see you alone

But we need some definite answers

So I thought I would write you a poem

The question to everyones answer

Is usually asked from within

But the patterns of the rain

And the truth they contain

Have written my life on your skin

Jungle love its drivin me mad

Its makin me crazy

Jungle love its drivin me mad

Its makin me crazy

You treat me like I was your ocean

You swim in my blood when its warm

My cycles of circular motion

Protect you and keep you from harm

You live in a world of illusion

Where everythings peaches and cream

We all face a scarlet conclusion

But we spend our time in a dream

Jungle love its drivin me mad

Its makin me crazy

Jungle love its drivin me mad

Its makin me crazy

I've got a new quit song for those members carrying extra 'junk in the trunk'...

I like big butts and I can not lie

You other brothers can't deny

That when a girl walks in with an itty bitty waist

And a round thing in your face

You get sprung, wanna pull out your tough

'Cause you notice that butt was stuffed

Deep in the jeans she's wearing

I'm hooked and I can't stop staring

Oh baby, I wanna get with you

And take your picture

My homeboys tried to warn me

But that butt you got makes me so horny

Ooh, Rump-o'-smooth-skin

You say you wanna get in my Benz?

Well, use me, use me

'Cause you ain't that average groupie

I've seen them dancin'

To hell with romancin'

She's sweat, wet,

Got it goin' like a turbo 'Vette

I'm tired of magazines

Sayin' flat butts are the thing

Take the average black man and ask him that

She gotta pack much back

So, fellas! (Yeah!) Fellas! (Yeah!)

Has your girlfriend got the butt? (Hell yeah!)

Tell 'em to shake it! (Shake it!) Shake it! (Shake it!)

Shake that healthy butt!

Baby got back!

I have two :o - both by James Blunt. Both songs remind me - of the terrible things that we do to ourselves. And they remind me - that we have a choice in everything we do, even if it's just a choice in our actions and reactions to someone else.

"Carry You Home"

Trouble is her only friend, and he's back again

Makes her body older than it really is

And she says it's high time she went away, no one's got much to say in this town

Trouble is the only way is down, down down

As strong as you were, tender you go

I'm watching you breathing, for the last time

A song for your heart, but when it is quiet

I know what it means and I'll carry you home, I'll carry you home.

If she had wings she would fly away and another day God will give her some

Trouble is the only way is down, down down.

As strong as you were, tender you go

I'm watching you breathing, for the last time

A song for your heart, but when it is quiet

I know what it means and I'll carry you home, I'll carry you home.

And they were all born pretty in New York City tonight

And someone's little girl was taken from the world tonight

Under the stars and stripes

As strong as you were, tender you go

I'm watching you breathing, for the last time

A song for your heart, but when it is quiet

I know what it means and I'll carry you home, I'll carry you home. (X2)

"Same Mistake"

So while I'm turning in my sheets

And once again, I cannot sleep

Walk out the door and up the street

Look at the stars beneath my feet

Remember rights that I did wrong

So here I go

Hello, hello

There is no place I cannot go

My mind is muddy but

My heart is heavy, does it show

I lose the track that loses me

So here I go

Oo oooooo ooo ooo oo oooo...

And so I sent some men to fight,

And one came back at dead of night,

Said "Have you seen my enemy?"

Said "he looked just like me"

So I set out to cut myself

And here I go

Oo oooooo ooo ooo oo oooo...

I'm not calling for a second chance,

I'm screaming at the top of my voice,

Give me reason, but don't give me choice,

Cos I'll just make the same mistake again,

Oo oooooo ooo ooo oo oooo...

And maybe someday we will meet

And maybe talk and not just speak

Don't buy the promises 'cause

There are no promises I keep,

And my reflection troubles me

So here I go

Oo oooooo ooo ooo oo oooo...

I'm not calling for a second chance,

I'm screaming at the top of my voice,

Give me reason, but don't give me choice,

Cos I'll just make the same mistake (REPEAT) again

Oo oooooo ooo ooo oo oooo...

So while I'm turning in my sheets

And once again, I cannot sleep

Walk out the door and up the street

Look at the stars

Look at the stars, falling down,

And I wonder where, did I go wrong.

The Fags Dont Work By the Verve:D

OK the true title is The Drugs Dont Work.

I think this is a great method when a craving hits and it's thanks to this board that I heard of it.

All this talk of getting old

It's getting me down my love

Like a cat in a bag, waiting to drown

This time I'm comin' down

And I hope you're thinking of me

As you lay down on your side

Now the drugs don't work

They just make you worse

But I know I'll see your face again

Now the drugs don't work

They just make you worse

But I know I'll see your face again

But I know I'm on a losing streak

'Cause I passed down my old street

And if you wanna show, then just let me know

And I'll sing in your ear again

Now the drugs don't work

They just make you worse

But I know I'll see your face again

'Cause baby, ooh, if heaven calls, I'm coming, too

Just like you said, you leave my life, I'm better off dead

All this talk of getting old

It's getting me down my love

Like a cat in a bag, waiting to drown

This time I'm comin' down

Now the drugs don't work

They just make you worse

But I know I'll see your face again

'Cause baby, ooh, if heaven calls, I'm coming, too

Just like you said, you leave my life, I'm better off dead

But if you wanna show, just let me know

And I'll sing in your ear again

Now the drugs don't work

They just make you worse

But I know I'll see your face again

Yeah, I know I'll see your face again

Yeah, I know I'll see your face again

Yeah, I know I'll see your face again

Yeah, I know I'll see your face again

I'm never going down, I'm never coming down

No more, no more, no more, no more, no more

I'm never coming down, I'm never going down

No more, no more, no more, no more, no more

(Repeat and Fade Out)

I long song but if you get to the end of it you will have forgot all about smoking and start thinking of Suicide lol, Only kidding:p
