I think this is what it is about.

I saw this advertised, might have been a you tube video. Doesnt look like stopping smoking to me. I think it is another way to make your crave more intensive than anything. Too much like cutting down for me.

When I cut down the fags really ruled my life. I was wishing my life away waiting for the clock to tell me I could smoke again... Never again. Better off just throwing the pack out of the window and doing every hour on its own merits.

I agree with you on this one Smirn. It doesn't look to healthy to me.:(

I agree with Smirn: I have gone through several periods of trying to cut down, and in some specific circumstances, I got it to work.

I managed to stick to smoking no more frequently than every 30 mins for about 2 months, but the slightest bit of pressure meant I was constantly watching the clock, which was itself making me even more anxious, so I dropped the idea, even though I generally tried not to have more than two an hour.

Incidentally, from the page that barb provided, this kind of thing REALLY pisses me off:

Most smoking cessation professionals do not recommend self-control approaches as success rates are poor compared to therapist-paced target-setting.

What a bloomin' surprise! Of course the cessation professionals don't want us using self-control! They'd be out of a bloody job!

Personally, I find peer-group mutual assistance the best stopping method going, i.e. exactly the kind of thing we do on this forum. There are no ulterior motives and the community spirit makes it more valuable to keep to the straight and narrow, and if one does falter, the support available is generally non-judgmental.

I couldn`t be bothered to read it all.

I`m doing fine with my patches.

I agree, stop torturing yourselves people, just stop completely and rip the plaster off really quickly. I tried cutting down for a while and it was actually worse than the last 4 days when i haven't smoked at all. Go figure :p

If I can go without then anyone can, worlds worst smoker....
