Who's stupid idea was it to give up smoking !!!!

Got a headache, didn't sleep well, mouth is dry, generally feel pants.

Chewed so much gum, i've just got that horrible sweet taste in my mouth.

But, going to aim for a 2nd day without fags.

I know the first few days can be difficult but honestly it will be worth it so much sooner than you think.

All I can suggest is drink plenty of water to help flush toxins from your body (may help with the headaches) and get into a good book until your sleeping returns to normal.

Well done for sticking with it - I'm sure you are inspiring all your team

Good Luck!!!:o

Sorry team moment of weakness earlier when i posted my 1st message. Of course it's not going to be easy, i didn't expect it to be a walk in the park.

On top of the other feeling i have, i actually feel physically sick, and i have to convince myself that if i had a cigarette would it make all those feelings go away...no probably not. Surely this is why smoking is so bad for us, if it makes us feel like this. My god, what control what power it has over us, but no more, i've had enough of it and i'm determined to crack it this time.

I think tomorrow is going to be the worst day, so i've been told. Might just spend the day in bed.....lol.

Good luck for today team.

Catch up later :)

I have survived day one. I had lot of coffee to forget. I think, it is more psycological than anything else.

I didnt feel much discomfort yday. I made a practise to advertise to everyone about my quit. Also told close friends and family to slap me if they see me smoking. Atleast that way fearing to get a slap or to be "named & shamed" I will not get on the habit again;) lol:))

Cheers

Its my second day too, but woke up still feeling positive. Don't think about tomorrow yet, get through today first, don't run before you can walk...... one step of a time, just try to stay focused.

I've still got money in my purse which would have usually been used to buy fags. The forum helps alot and I downloaded the quit keeper.

Keep going, we can all do it if we keep strong and help each other through.

I have been quit for 1 Day, 10 hours, 38 minutes and 6 seconds (1 days). I have saved £9.47 by not smoking 43 cigarettes. I have saved 3 hours and 35 minutes of my life. My Quit Date: 11/03/2008 23:00

Well done everyone that has managed to get to day 2.

I am concentrating on getting to day 3 now, because I don't want to let any of the team down. It's amazing how you will try much harder for someone else.

A very happy morning to all

kd0421-I play on ds at bedtime until i can no longer keep my eyes open.:D

Chippy i feel the same as in don`t want to let the team down.

Yesterday was good for me and for the first time in any quit, when my daughter or hubby asked for a lighter, I said sorry I don`t smoke instead of the usual I`m trying to give up.It was really positive that I wasn`t giving anything up.

Oh and I tried the frozen grapes that someone had suggested.mmmmmm lovely.

Batwoman- thats great positive thinking. Are you going to join the team.

Welcome to the team Batwoman :)

Barb, great idea with the DS. Usually i would nick my boys Xbox 360 and play on that until the early hours, unfortunately it got the 3 red lights of death at the weekend, couldn't have been a worse time for it to pack up

I understand fully about people not wanting to let the team down and it's a great motivator, but everyone knows if they do have a relapse and sneak the odd fag in we are all here to offer support. On the same lines, my 11 year old has been bugging me and bugging me to stop smoking. When i told him last night that i hadn't had a cigarette all day he was over the moon and i know if i did start again he would be really upset.

Not necessarily so. I have read that over and over too but to be honest Day Three was no worse than Day one or Day two. Maybe there are alot of people out there that find Day three the worst, and I wish that was the case for me! But regrettably, its not.

I too feared Day three after reading on here that it is the worst day and I expected a really crappy day! Although it was hard (just like any other day) it wasn't as hard as I was led to believe.

I find it harder now! ggrrr

Stick in there though, you don't want to be slave to some nasty ole addiction do you? Well done for so far and good luck!

Hi Kd

Hubby had red lights but he didn`t have the lead from xbox to telly in:rolleyes:

I went into game yesterday and see they have LOST on xbox360. I might have to buy that with money saved from not smoking.:)

Wish it was on the Wii though.

Ps Day 3 for me last time was ok.

Hello team!

I'm normally quite busy during the day as my job is very demanding, so don't think about cigs except if i have a tea break.

I had trouble when I stopped in January cos when I had a break before I gave up I always used to have a fag and now I try to fill that void with something else.

I've got quite good at crosswords but still dont get soduku:D

hello team..

good to hear from you guys..

feeling a lot better today than yesterday - not difficult - thought my head was gonna explode last night..wanted to amputate!!

anyone else felt "tearful" - not sure if its nicotine withdrawal or watching "The News At Ten"??

did yoga class which helped - and tonight will spend 3 hrs mucking out horses

at the RDA!! Wonder if it'll smell worse than normal...

keep going everyone, has to get to easier..

Well, nearly at the end of day 2. Great to see everyone still so positive.

During the day seems fine, I'm able to keep myself busy, the only time during the day when it is more of a problem is when i'm in my van ( Plumber by trade ), but on the good side, my work productivity has increased over past couple of days as not stopping every half hour / hour for a quick smoke !!

I'm finding mornings and evenings the hardest, but i know it will get easier.

Don't know about anyone else but my sense of smell seems to have improved already, as for my sense of taste..........everything seems to have that funny chewing gummy taste at the moment for some reason :)

Anyway, roll on day 3.

I have been quit for 1 Day, 20 hours, 22 minutes and 47 seconds (1 days). I have saved £7.62 by not smoking 55 cigarettes. I have saved 4 hours and 35 minutes of my life. My Quit Date: 12/03/2008 00:00
