This is my first bash at writing about giving up smoking. I gave up on New Years Night (how original), I went cold turkey, rather than have gum or patches and this is now week 9.
I spent the first few weeks growling and being generally unpleasant to people.
Then I started being able smell things and got less irritable about things.
I have not really wanted a cig since I gave up (my wife still smokes and before you can't or don't notice the smell, afterwards it is very obvious.)
I have noticed that not smoking is more painful as before I gave up, running for a bus was out or cycling more than 10 miles an hour to work was an impossibility because I ran out of breath, now I do not run out of breath but I exercise long enough to produce enough lactic acid to give me a stitch. I assume this will improve, as will the sore throat and cough that I have had since I gave up...
Good luck everyone
