I'm being totally rubbish with this quit so I'm setting a brand new date of Friday 1 February and I'm going to read my Alan Carr book again over the next few days while smoking (although I only smoke during evenings anyway). I've never read the book while smoking before so maybe that is the key. If that doesn't work I'm just gonna chop off my own fingers so I can't actually hold a cigarette!
Hopefully I'll be raring to go again by Friday and will just tackle the weekend head on!

Good luck with Allen Carr - this thread reminded me that the first time I read it I'd just stopped and I ended up starting again. I read it again when I was smoking and it's going ok so far! I don't know whether it was the book or just annoyance at myself but something seemed to work. Fingers crossed for you
Will you be going cold turkey then as mr carr suggests?
I will be. I have only ever gone cold turkey. I figure that I can't really do the nicotine replacement thing when I only smoke in the evening. Having said that I haven't actually looked into it. I think with me it's more psychological than an actual addiction. For instance I'm not craving a cigarette now and now I will easily go all day without one. Yet when I get home this evening I'll be dying for one. It's just bizarre!!!
When I read Alan Carr before, I had already stopped smoking so I didn't really follow his instructions properly. I'll do it properly this time and carry on smoking till the end of the book. I should finish it in three evenings easily enough I reckon.
Sorry your finding it hard must say been struggling myself . The last week but not caved yet dont think I would be as good has you lot if I had one would give up altogether. Good luck with the book good luck for friday. Linda xxxxxx
Yeah I'm jumping back on the wagon but I think mentally for me I have to start again on the first of a month. I know I'm weird. I'm full of weird little behaviours - like the volume on the tv has to be on an even number, I shut every door in the house before leaving, I can't have two different colour pegs on the same piece of clothing on the washing line - the list goes on!!!
Good luck SSS so glad your not giving in! thats half the battle won x x
You could always try a inhalator, you just suck on it when things get tough.
That way your not forcing NRT all through the day, just a little blast when you need it.
That might be a good idea actually! Thanks! If I was in the pub I might be hiding in the toilets to do it though. Just like the good old days hiding in toilets to smoke!
