Hiya new here: Hi i am mum to 1 and i am... - No Smoking Day
Hiya new here
Welcome on bored Sressed hehehe
Patches are much better as they just work by themselves, I too am on patches.
Advice, erm, drink water, keep busy reading, writing, drawing, walking, puzzles etc anything to fill your time!
eat little and often. Try and replace thoughts of smoking with other happy thoughts. If it gets tough get up and walk to another room and do something completley different like scream hehe
Try and avoid things that you would usualy smoke with, coffee, alcohol, long phone calls etc
Save your money and treat yourself daily for the first week then weekly then monthly.
Keep posting here and take on board all the help and support you can x x x x

Hi stressed mum. Well done on your quit. I am too on the patches. I drink loads of water when i get a craving or go brush my teeth. I also take deep breathes and think of something to go and do for a few minutes till the craving has gone.
It not easy and i dont think anyone on here will tell you it is.
When i gave up in sept i read up loads on the internet. All the horrible stuff about smoking. I know its not nice but it puts thoughts into your head that you can keep thinking about when you get a craving.
Also look for one of the quitmeters online where you put in your quit date and how many you smoked and it counts everyday and how much you have saved and how many more days your have added onto your life.
All these little things helped me.
And of course come and talk to us. We are all in the same boat as you and know what you are going through. We wont judge xxx
Thank you both of you,my mum is here and i have told her that under no circumstances is she allowed to smoke in my house, dont want any temptations lol.
Good for you!! you may well be her inspiration and she'll follow your example
Hi Stressed, just wanted to add my two pennyworth in supporting you.. You've made a great decision, there'll be tough times but it gets easier every day after the first week (in my experience:D). Hope it goes well for you, keep strong
You can do it
Stressed:
I'm seconding Steve & everyone else here. It can be done. It might be ugly for a few days, but we have all been through it and we all say it gets better, so just get through it and then you are done with it and then you will be telling someone else here in a month or two that it can be done!
You see, every one of us here needs a replacement as we go deeper into our quits. We really do think less and less about cigs and tend to leave this forum as we discover life without cigs.
We need other quitters to replace us!

P.S., Where else are quitters so highly valued?
Welcome Stressed Congrats on deciding to quit, the beginning of the year is a wonderful time for something like this. Hang in there, it does get easier after just a few days ;)
thanks for the welcomes, nearly the end of day one thank god, thinking of having an early night so it ends quicker hehe
