Hi guys,

Well Tuesday was a big day here. A big horse race and everyone, and I mean everyone, gets dressed up and goes out to lunch.

Well this year was the first year that I actually organised and participated in one of these lunches as I have never wanted any of the mums at school to know about my filthy habit(in fear they would not let thier kids play with mine).

Well from someone who had the best lunch ever with LOts of champagne!!!!!

I'm glad I dont smoke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have been so unsocial for too long because of this stuff.

Smoking (in Aust) has become sooo unacceptable, that you feel like you have lepracy!!

Glad that nasty hangover has gone too.

Is it as bad where you are?????

We cant smoke anywhere inside a building.4m from a door.No pubs , clubsetc.

But I'm glad , because that contributed to my quitting!!!!

Wow !!!!!! No way!!!!

That is soooooooooo unbelievable to me , I can't even imagine it.

I have been a mum at this school for 6 nearly 7 years and I have never seen another mother (600 student school) smoke , ever. Not even at a birthday party in thier own homes, and I have been to hundreds of them.!!!!!

I must have been the only one(thats how I felt).

WOOOOWWWWW.

Sort of glad though as this has helped me to give up, but hated being in the school previous to that.Just wanted to move and run away.

Oh man, yeah my old place, the mums would smoke outside waiting for the kids to come out, and between calling them Little f*****s and giving them clouts around the head, they would do up their kids coats and shoe laces fag hanging out of there mouth, baby in arms, putting kids in their buggies etc *sigh* I can still remember a friend of mine leaning over into the cot and getting her baby boy out, fag in mouth.

You Wont Believe This But When I Had My First Baby 1977 My Visitors Sat Around The Bed Smoking, It Seems Incredible Now But It Was A Social Thing To Pass The Fags Around. But I Have To Say I Was A Lepper For A Long Time Since, I Worked In Food Retail And Always Had To Take My Fag Outside. Then When It Hit The Pubs I Found I Was Less Angry Than Those That Were Allowed To Smoke At Work E.g My Hubby. He Was Very Angry. Now Hes Quit A Week After Me. He Smells Lovely Now He He! X

I had my daughter in1993 and although there was no smoking onthe wards there was a special room where all the new mms could go any time (day or night) and spark up!!!!

R U Jokin,

Wow we have come such a long way!!!!!!!

My god imagine smoking in or near a hospital in this day and age , let alone in the baby ward or stopping the birth to have a ciggy----unbelievable.

It used to be sooooooo acceptable but now....

Well Good.

Still think about it alot though......(me that is ).

trying not to.

Oh Its Early Days Yet Love, One Day You Just Wonder Whats Missing Then Gasp You Havent Thought About Cigs For Hours. Honestly. I Still Get The Urge But Less N Less With Time. I Take Badly With It When I Do Now. But At Least I Know It Will Go And Im Winning. Oh And Honestly That Did Happen With The Midwife. I Was In My Sons Car And Was Just Telling Him About It The Other Day As We Drove Past The Shop She Went In. He Was Flabbergasted Ha! Has Two Little Girls Of His Own Now And Was Present At Their Births. Things Are So Much For The Better Now.

Lol'd at midwife buying cigs how mad is that?!

I stopped on the way to hospital to buy myself some fags once :o I was in labour and the car wouldn't start again for ages after :D hehehehe

I had my eldest in 1992 and remember that smoking room where all the mums would be in their robes and drips etc, puffing away :D

I have felt the same way for yrs. I have only known 1 other mother besides myself who smokes. She was rarely ever at any school functions because she has a very demanding job. I always felt like such a sneak! I feel so much better now that I am not doing that!

Good grief!

That sounds like my mother in law! They all smoke in there house like chimneys. I would watch her hold my nephew while puffing a!way. I never let her hold mine while smoking. When I went there we didn't stay long!! My youngest niece & nephew are back living there. Between the 3 adults that live there they smoke over 5 packs a day in the house. Poor kids!:(

Thats absolutely terrible, even when I was a smoker I smoked outside and made visitors do the same, and now smoking in my house is a hanging offence! hehehehehe

When I had my first son I was in hospital b4 the birth and me and another woman used to have to waddle outside and smoke by the casualty entrance, and by god, the looks we got!

Treated like lepers!

I thought it was funny b4 the ban came into force and you'd see people stood outside in their nhs pj's attatched to a drip, obviously very poorly and still draggin their butts outside for a smoke.

Its sad really, with hindsight, coz I was one of them! hahahahahahaha

Yeah, my eldest two have never had me go to a school excursion or do anything much at school to help out, or stay for sports carnivals or swimming carnivals because I couldnt stay for more than an hour as I had to run home and have a ciggie.

Well thats changed now and at least my youngest will get that.

1 out of three is better than none out of three hey?

Geeeeeeezzzzzzz!!!!!I reckon youd get locked up for that here.

They are talking about making it illegal in cars with kids under 16years.

Looks like the sister in laws gone then!!!

They have been talking about the car issue here for quite some time. I personally think it's a good idea. I helped to moved her back here from North Carolina a little over a year ago. It has become the biggest mistake of my life. I guess what I am saying is that her getting arrested would be music to my ears! She is a terrible, selfish mother in so many ways!

Hi Folks,

I live in Canada and they have made smoking illegal inside of buildings and even near the doors outside of the buildings. We would have to sometimes even leave the property of some places to have a ciggie. They want to make smoking illegal in our cars here and also in OUR homes. I don't smoke anymore so this doesn;t really make a difference to me, butttttt....i disagree with that still. I feel that if they are still selling the ciggies and they are not making it illegal to buy them then they have no right making it illegal to smoke in our own homes. COme on people - get with the program. If its illegal then stop selling them. Can't have your cake (money) and eat it too.

They're the government! (whatever country)

They do whatever they want!

They couldn't make tobacco an illegal substance, its what thay make alot of their tax money from!

Hi Barney,

I know they make their tax money from the smokers, but thats my point. They don't want people to smoke them because if they did they wouldn't make it illegal everywhere. If they make it illegal to smoke in all areas then they need to stop selling them and take the tax money hit. In my opinion if they are legal to buy at the store then they should be legal to smoke anywhere you please. just my opinion!

They are trying to pass another excise tax on cigs here in NJ. The tax already exceeds the price of the actual pack. I am so glad I quit!:D I don't believe they should be allowed to tell people where they can smoke outside but I do believe something needs to be done with the car issue and small children who are helpless! Then again, the parents should have common sense.

Arrgggggggg!

I saw a jeep this morning at the school and there was sat this young girl in the passenger seat and she had a tailor made hanging from her mouth well and truly lit and as i approached and got closer to the vehicle I noticed she had a baby on her lap, windows were closed as well

either bloody thick as pig shit or she is bloody selfish

Just damn selfish! People like that should not be blessed with children, but for some reason they are??? I just like to believe what comes around goes around! Their day will come!!!;)
